Has no secrets from the handicapper but pops up from time to time and is now only 1lb higher than his Wolverhampton win in February. Close third over C&D last time out and a repeat puts him in the firing line.
Has fallen to a basement mark after some dreadful efforts, first start for new yard today but comes here off the back of an absence and likely to need the run anyway. Can only be watched at present.
Just the one win in 32 starts, that coming on the all-weather and his record on turf is not great. First start for a new yard today but not seen out since February and may need the outing.
Another that seems happier on artificial surfaces rather than the turf, was a winner at Newcastle in May and didn't fare badly at Wolverhampton last time out, but turf effort in between was moderate. Bit to prove.
Has plenty of speed but just the one win in 42 starts to show for it, not seen out since January and as he's no great record after a break (and yard out of form), it's not hard to look elsewhere for the winner.
Just the one win in 23 starts but on the plus side, that did come over this C&D in this race last year. However, hasn't been seen out since April, which wasn't the case last year. Risky, but capable if she's ready to go.
Have to go back over two years to find the last time he visited the winners enclosure and recent efforts don't suggest he's about to go back there any time soon.
Remarkably, tried in point-to-points this year (didn't complete in three starts) and although not beaten far at Lingfield last time, it was a very weak seller. Hard to see her breaking his duck here.
Well beaten at huge prices on most of his recent starts and although he's twice a winner here in the dim and distant past, looks an unlikely winner. Trip on the short side too.
Has been in decent nick on the all-weather this spring, came good at Lingfield in March and solid efforts since then. Needs to transfer that form to turf now, and yard could be in better form, but chances all the same in a weak contest.
Yet to win in 10 starts but better last couple of runs (not far behind Swift Fox last time) and she might just be finding a bit of form. Out of the handicap here but not completely discounted if she can progress again.
Forecasts
Ask The Guru (5/2), Camino (5/1), Terri Rules (11/2), Swift Fox (6/1), Mocead Cappall (7/1), Deer Song (7/1), Storm Trooper (12/1), Born To Boogie (14/1), Barnsdale (25/1), Indus Valley (33/1), Hit The Lights (33/1)
Last year's winner Camino would have been more interesting with a run or two under his belt but no doubt this is his one of his targets for the season and any money for him needs noting. But his could be a decent chance for old ASK THE GURU, who might be able to grab an easy lead here and knows his way home at a track he has gone well at before. Swift Fox and Mocead Cappall are both out of the handicap, which hardly helps, but both have chances of hitting the frame.
- Ask The Guru
- Camino
