Just 1,500 guineas Dark Angel yearling, very cheap for progeny of a leading sire. Stable not known for first time out winners so likely to be better for this debut experience

Horse silk
25/1
58,000 guineas Acclamation colt, dam won over 7f. Yard won this race 12 months ago and does particularly well with juveniles at this track. Should be thereabouts.

Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: M Harley| T: A King
7/1
Gelded son of Australian sire Kuroshio fared well enough when fourth on debut at Goodwood 10 days ago and should have learned plenty from that experience. Respected, but may find one or two too good.
4
(1)
Horse silk
80/1
Fast Company colt whose dam is half-sister to a Group 2 middle distance winner. Likely to be better in time over further and has his work cut out on debut.
5
(8)
Horse silk
33/1
Cost 100,000 guineas as a yearling and is half-brother to a listed winner. Yard can get them ready so any market interest on debut would be well worth noting.

Two fair efforts so far for this son of Exceed and Excel who will appreciate the return to 6f after being taken off his feet over the minimum trip last time. First-time cheekpieces applied and sets a fair standard.

London Rockh1
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: S M Levey| T: R Hannon
25/1
Bred for this trip being a son of Group 1 Diamond Jubilee winner Society Rock. Cost 57,000 euros as a yearling and represents top yard with fine course record. Wears hood for debut but is worh a second glance.

Horse silk
11/4
100,000 guineas son of Kodiac whose dam is from fine middle distance family of Time Charter. Stable a little quiet of late but still having a winner or two. Any market support would be worth heeding.

Going the right way and was a decent runner-up here last time. Certainly capable of winning races and should be in the thick of the action once again.

Private Rocket
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: A Kirby| T: C G Cox
11/4
Dark Angel colt who cost a hefty 280,000 euros as a yearling. Dam placed in listed company over 5f as a juvenile and trainer very adept at getting them ready for racecourse bow. No surprise to see him run a big race and one for the shortlist.

(5)
Horse silk
100/1
Lilbourne Lad colt who hasn't shown much at all in two outings to date, finishing a distant last of seven on his most recent run at Lingfield. Very hard to fancy.

Horse silk
Sophosc
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: L P Keniry| T: J Tuite
100/1
17,000 euros Society Rock colt out of dam related to middle distance performers. Yard yet to have a juvenile winner so far this term and may be better for this debut experience.

Horse silk
Triggered
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: P Cosgrave| T: E Walker
16/1
Dandy Man colt whose sale price rocketed from 52,000 guineas as a foal to 240,000 euros as a yearling, so must look the part. Yard ticking over nicely so bold show wouldn't surpirse on debut.

Horse silk
Voltaic
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: R Havlin| T: P & O Cole
33/1
Power colt whose unraced dam is related to a number of useful middle distance performers. Likely to need more of a test and improve for this initial experience.
15
(3)
Horse silk
100/1
Approve filly who cut little ice when last of 10 on her debut at Beverley five weeks ago. Much more needed and looks to have plenty on her plate in this company.

(16)
Horse silk
66/1
£14,000 Zebedee filly, half-sister to four indivual winners. Yard can ready them for debut but this looks tough and she's expected to do better down the line.

Forecasts

Leading Spirit (11/4), My Dear Friend (11/4), Private Rocket (11/4), Dunkerron (7/1), Triggered (16/1), Oloroso (20/1), Dirty Rascal (25/1), London Rock (25/1), Voltaic (33/1), Invincible One (33/1), Zebs Silver (66/1), Freedom And Wheat (80/1), Siona's Boy (100/1), Sophosc (100/1), Allux Girl (100/1), Dark Impulse (150/1)

Verdict

Godolphin's Leading Spirit sets the standard but doesn't look unbeatable on the evidence of his two starts to date. He won't be far away, but OLOROSO is taken to build on a recent good effort when runner-up over course and distance. My Dear Friend shouldn't be far away either, while of the newcomers London Rock and Invincible One could both be capable, while the expensive purchases Triggered and Private Rocket should be noted for any market confidence.
