Posted an improved effort in the first time visor over C&D last week despite weakening late on and finishing in excess of 6L fourth to Simply Breathless. Current handicap mark probably a fair reflection of his ability.
Remains a maiden (0 from 7) and seemingly finds it difficult to back up one decent effort with another; her best run coming at Lingfield (1m AW) on seasonal reappearance when a close up fourth to Indiscretion.
Took a notable step forward on handicap debut and seasonal reappearance at Nottingham last month (1m+) when beaten 1L by Hombre Castado; a stablemate of Grace's Secret. Up 2lb, but open to further improvement.
Not shown enough in four spins on the AW, including on handicap debut at Kempton in January (1m), so needs to take a big step forward on his first start on turf after a four plus month break.
Maiden (0 from 6) and off the track since late January when finishing fourth (beaten 2½L) at Kempton; 1m. Got the better of Black Medusa on that occasion, but both previous starts on turf have come on soft ground.
Has some placed from but is struggling to nail down a winning opportunity (0 from 9) and certainly isn't progressive. Weak at the finish over 7f latest (led), so a step up in trip isn't necessarily an obvious move.
Should be capable of competing off this mark on the pick of his 2017 form, but much less encouraging this calendar year and disconcerting to see the hood is now applied. 0/12 career.
No joy upped to 1m2f at Salisbury recently (good to soft), and is quickly dropped back in trip for handicap debut. Not wholly exposed, but needs to show improvement nevertheless.
Lost the race in the stewards room after 'winning' over C&D on his penultimate start (beat Bombshell Bay by a head). 2lb higher now and that same rival is claimer ridden tonight, so more to do from a mid to high draw.
Out of form since winning at Wolverhampton in late November (7f) but has fallen back to that last winning mark and is seemingly versatile in terms of trip/racing surface.
Raced just once on turf so far (0 from 5 career), and that was over 7f at Leicester recently when probably slightly better than the bare result. Similar conditions expected tonight and less exposed than some if able to stay this trip.
Got the race in the stewards room after being beaten a head by He's Our Star over C&D on his penultimate start. Backed that up with a fair effort since (third), and is partnered by a useful 7lb claimer tonight.
Well beaten on all three starts (6f-7f), but is upped in trip for handicap debut at a realistic level, so that could possibly bring about some much needed improvement.
Better than he showed when held by Bombshell Bay/He's Our Star on his penultimate start over C&D, appearing to be progressing at this lowly level judged upon his latest 2¾L C&D third to Gossip Column. Chance.
Forecasts
Carlini (11/4), Jackpot Royale (5/1), Mankind (11/2), He's Our Star (8/1), Reverberation (8/1), Bombshell Bay (9/1), Is It Off (14/1), Flirtare (16/1), Black Medusa (20/1), Grace's Secret (20/1), Roundhead (33/1), Rainbow Jazz (40/1), Woggle (40/1), Diamond Pursuit (66/1)
An unappealing low grade finale, but at least there's plenty of fast ground C&D form on which to base a solid judgement. Carlini has progressed since finishing behind Bombshell Bay and He's Our Star in April, and with further improvement anticipated could well turn the tables on that pair; with the Seamus Cronin ridden horse expected to have the better of his old sparring partner in the battle between the 1/2. However, whilst others such as Mankind also hold claims, for small stakes we'll elect to go with the Mick Appleby trained JACKPOT ROYALE who remains unexposed after just four career starts and was a runner up on handicap debut at Nottingham latest.
- Jackpot Royale
- Carlini
- Bombshell Bay
