Maiden after 11 starts but running well in the main this season including when 12L fourth at Plumpton (good-to-soft) last time out. Interesting runner on chase debut.
Finished runner-up on heavy ground at Chepstow on his return to fences last month. Dropped 3lb for that effort and has won off a higher mark over hurdles in the past.
Struggled in two starts since finishing 24L third at Newbury (soft) over an extended 2m in December. Others make more appeal in this contest.
Successful three times over hurdles but struggled over fences so far and beaten 39L at Chepstow last month on his first start since wind surgery.
Head winner of a handicap hurdle at Wincanton (good) 13 months ago but well held on his only subsequent start and is making his chasing debut here.
Beaten 30L when finishing third over 2m5f at Warwick (heavy) in a handicap hurdle last time out. Better ground forecast should suit on chasing debut.
Point-to-point winner in January 2017 and recorded his best effort runner rules when finishing runner-up at Kempton (3m, soft) last month. Tongue tie worn for the first time that day is retained for this.
Put a couple of falls behind him when finishing fourth at Bangor (good-to-soft) last time out. Looking for his first victory under rules at the 12th time of asking.
Successful over an extended 2m7f at Ascot (good-to-soft) in a handicap hurdle in December. Disappointed the following month and switched to fences on his return from a break.
Completed a hat-trick over hurdles when winning at Catterick (good-to-soft) over an extended 3m1f in December. Disappointed the last twice but not beaten far on only previous start over fences.
Point-to-point winner on good ground in March last year but struggled under rules since and probably best watched on chasing debut.
Beaten 2L in a five runner contest at Fakenham (2m5f, good-to-soft) last time out. Represents a leading yard and races off a 1lb lower mark here.
Followed up a soft ground Chepstow handicap hurdle success over an extended 2m3f by finishing runner-up over the same C&D last month. One to note now switched to fences.
Pulled up twice since finishing runner-up in first time cheekpieces at Ludlow (2m4f, good) in October. Probably best watched on second start since joining this yard.
Placed nine times in point-to-point company but struggled in four outings under rules and others make more appeal racing from out of the handicap on chase debut.
Sole success came on heavy ground in a handicap hurdle at Hereford in February last year. Fair efforts in recent times but races from out of the handicap on chase debut.
Forecasts
Ckalco Des Loges (9/2), Zanstra (6/1), One Of Us (13/2), Wandrin Star (15/2), The Boss's Dream (9/1), Farm The Rock (9/1), Triopas (9/1), Heluvagood (12/1), Western Wave (12/1), Puppet Warrior (18/1), Demographic (20/1), Way Of The World (22/1), Toosey (25/1), Old Salt (25/1), Fact Flow (66/1), Grand Coureur (66/1)
WANDRIN STAR is taken to go one better than when finishing runner-up at Kempton last month by taking this handicap chase. That Kempton effort was the selections best so far under rules and he can get the better of Heluvagood who has been in good form over hurdles in recent times while Zanstra, placed four times over fences and register another placed effort by finishing third.
- Wandrin Star
- Heluvagood
- Zanstra
