Opening mark of 67 does not look overly generous on what we have seen so far. Better expected now switched to handicaps but needs to improve a bit to give away weight all round here.

Well bred daughter of Dubawi who showed plenty of promise on her second start before taking a step backwards at Newbury (1m2f, good to soft) last time in what may have been a hot maiden. Likely to improve now switching to handicaps and of interest.

Improved with each run early last summer but not been seen for 325 days. Very good chance that this could be a decent mark though making handicap debut today and any market moves should be taken seriously.

Improved since handicapping and sent off a well backed 11/8f at Wolverhampton (1m1½f, AW) when plenty went wrong last time. Runs off the same mark again today and no reason why he shouldn't go well again.

Seven race maiden who has gone close on a couple of occasions. Ran well off this mark when third at Windsor (1m, good) last time. Feeling this track will suit if starting better than she did here two runs back. Not discounted.

2lbs higher than when scrambling home at Chelmsford in January. Not so good since switching to this yard and might be vulnerable to one or two improvers in here.

Poor in all three runs so far and even this lowly mark does look overly generous on handicap bow. Hard to fancy until showing a bit more.

Big prices and beaten a long way in all three starts to date. Should be more competitive at this level but needs to improve on what we have seen so far. Second run after a wind operation.

Forecasts

Appenzeller (9/4), Juneau (11/4), Hateya (7/2), Fitzrovia (6/1), The Night King (15/2), Frozen Bere (9/1), Jungle Queen (10/1), Champs Inblue (16/1), Ragstone Ridge (50/1)

Verdict

Appenzeller sets the standard on his good effort at Wolverhampton last time when getting squeezed up early on. Any kind of market move for Jungle Queen should be taken very seriously as despite her absence she could be on a nice opening mark. Preference is for JUNEAU who had showed promise on her first two starts before disappointing in what may have been a hot maiden at Newbury last time. She is well bred and should be more than capable off this sort of mark with a top rider booked.
  1. Juneau
  2. Jungle Queen
  3. Appenzeller
