In good form last year winning three times including over C&D and has already scored this year at Musselburgh. Ran well enough last time out at Ripon (5f, heavy) and should take a hand here although could have done with a lower draw.

Nowhere near as good as he once was and that's reflected in his falling mark. Ran well enough last time out in an amateur riders race over 6f on the AW and nicely drawn here off that same mark if he's in the mood to take advantage.

Now lurks just 1lb above his last winning mark and a recent spin on the AW will have brought him on. Market always useful with this yard and he's not badly drawn here and has landed a big-field handicap before.

Consistent sort who finished in the runner-up berth on five starts last year after winning over this trip at Hamilton with ease in the ground. Showed promise on his comeback run this year on Tapeta before being unsuited by Fibresand last time.

One of three runners in the race for this trainer who may still be getting to grips with this new arrival. He's been placed off higher marks than this in the past and tried 5f for the first time last time; may be more to come from him.

Unreliable sort who had flattered to deceive on more than one occasion and is very hard to catch right. A visor is now tried for the first time to bring about some consistency although he's not well drawn at all; others more fancied.

Comes here on a long losing run (three years since his last win) and is looking harder and harder to catch right. His mark looks an attractive one but his temperament has been questioned and he may well need this comeback run.

Drawn widest of all which makes life difficult despite being dealt a chance by the handicapper off this mark. Now 4lb below his last winning mark and 10lb below his seasonal opener last year so in essence well weighted.

Type this yard do well with and it will be a surprise if they don't coax a win out of him off this sort of mark having already shaped with promise fir them. Well drawn here if gets the run of the race although he's probably better over 6f.

Starts out for a new yard here having won on her reappearance last year over 6f off a 5lb lower mark. Failed to find her form after that and returns now after a break but looks to have something to prove before being of interest.

Looked to come to himself towards the end of his juvenile career with a win at Catterick and a good run over C&D. This mark and draw ask more of him and he faces quite a stiff task even with the assistance of the champion jockey.

Has been kept busy over the winter on the AW running with credit on multiple occasions. Continued that theme when returned to the turf at Pontefract recently (finished 4th); a repeat of that run from a good draw would give this C&D winner a chance.

Ended his first season on a downward note having shown improvement to win on his second start appreciating the drop back to 5f. Looks to need a sound surface to operate on and may find this ground a touch too testing.

Always looks to need his first outing after a break and hasn't been seen in wining form for a while now. Has an awkward draw in this and hard to make a case for.

Not seen for quite some time and this dual C&D winner looks as though he'll need this outing despite being well drawn here. He is 2lb below his last winning mark though and a positive run would augur well for the future.

Verdict

Not an easy start to the card although those with a high draw always face a slightly more difficult task over the 5f here. RAFFLE KING has yet to win a race but he’s with a good yard and shaped well last time out and a strongly-run race will suit him from what looks to be a good draw. The drop to 5f with the addition of cheekpieces could well spark Ghayadh back to life while Rapid Applause should be watched in the market given his mark now plus a recent spin that will have brought him on. Jacob’s Pillow is already up and running this year and this C&D winner is another to note despite his double-figure draw.
