Back to winning ways in decisive fashion at Chelmsford on latest start. Has been hit with a 7lb rise, however, and he will do well to follow up that success.
Quite lightly raced, but has a C&D success to her name and shaped better than the bare result suggests at this venue last time. Down 1lb and can make her presence felt.
Running well this spring, including when winning over C&D. Handicap mark has been raised accordingly, but he cannot be ruled out while in such good heart.
Back to winning ways when comfortably justifying favouritism over C&D last time. An 8lb rise makes life tough, but she has few miles on the clock and is open to improvement.
Won twice as a juvenile, but missed all last season and two runs this year have been disappointing. Needs a return to form in first-time cheekpieces for last year's winning stable.
Five wins from 11 starts on the AW is a good strike rate, but latest run saw him well beaten over 6f at this venue following a break. Has never won over the minimum trip and may be outpaced.
Only win in eight AW races came at Chelmsford, but he handles this surface and was not disgraced on latest run at Southwell. On a fair mark and is one to consider.
Veteran who has won 16 of his 124 races. Showed that the fire still burns when runner-up over C&D two starts ago and is not out of it off the same rating.
Winner at Chelmsford in January, but has not been quite at that level since. Handicapper has cut him some slack, however, so it would be no surprise to see him get involved.
C&D winner who has been out of form recently and is on a long, losing streak. Dangerously well-handicapped if returning to form, but no recent evidence to suggest that is about to happen.
Won over this distance at Chepstow last summer and is only 1lb higher. Has quite a long spell on the sidelines to overcome, though, and may be sharper for the run.
Forecasts
Sky Gypsy (6/4), Newstead Abbey (9/2), Foxtrot Knight (11/2), A Sure Welcome (9/1), Berryessa (12/1), Swendab (16/1), Powerful Dream (20/1), Red Stripes (25/1), Precious Plum (28/1), Zipedeedodah (28/1), Quantum Dot (40/1)
Powerful Dream has plenty to do off top weight but cannot be ruled out, a remark which also applies to the likes of Newstead Abbey, Sky Gypsy, Foxtrot Knight and Red Stripes. The vote, though, goes to BERRYESSA, who ran better than her finishing position suggests last time and may pop up at rewarding odds.
- Berryessa
- Red Stripes
- Newstead Abbey
