Son of Zoffany purchased for €13,000 last spring. Half-brother to a number of winners, made an inauspicious start over 1m4f on Lingfield's AW this month and best watched for now on that evidence.
Colt by Nathaniel, connections parted with 120,000 gns as a yearling and he's got a useful pedigree being related to multiple smart performers.
High Chaparral colt, half-brother to a couple of useful middle distance types and dam was a winner over middle distance trips. Served notice of ability in Doncaster maiden (1m2f, soft) last month when beaten 1L into third. Should go close here.
Intello colt, cost 120,000 gns as a yearling. Half-brother to winners around this trip and dam was Group-placed as a juvenile and half-sister to a Group 1 winner. Plenty to find with Blazing Saddles on last month's Doncaster debut efforts.
Son of So You Think whose dam was a 1m2f winner. Fetched 85,000 gns as a yearling. Has shown promise in runs at Nottingham and Salisbury last term and needs taking seriously on return with conditions and trip to suit.
Promising on paper, a colt out of Frankel and represents top yard. Trainer has two newcomers in this field and Ryan Moore seemingly prefers Shareef Star.
Nathaniel colt with an appealing pedigree that suggests he will thrive in time. Has to improve on two runs thus far at Newmarket and Kempton (AW).
Frankel colt, cost $325,000 as a yearling and re-sold for 250,000 gns, showed benefit of debut outing when runner-up at Redcar (1m, good to soft) in October and entitled to make progress this season.
Promising in two runs last season, close third over 1m2f at Newmarket when last spotted in October, likely to have strengthened over the winter and one to take note of in this line-up.
Mastercraftsman colt out of a lightly-raced dam who hailed from a good family. Cost €100,000 as a yearling, ran poorly in sole outing last year at Salisbury.
Colt by Nathaniel is a half-brother to 2,000 runner-up Delegator, who served these connections well. Merits a closer look on debut.
Nicely-bred colt out of Farhh, picked up for 44,000 gns by connections. Half-brother to Dandino, a winner in group-race company at 1m4f-1m5f, so this trip looks suitable on debut outing.
New Approach colt whose dam is a half-sister to Dubawi, didn't show a lot in two runs last term at Leicester and Nottingham. Goes up in trip now for this seasonal return.
By Nathaniel but the colt doesn't hold quite as much allure as some of the other newcomers in this field. Market should reveal more.
Son of Sea The Stars, changed hands for princely sum of 700,000 gns as a yearling, first outing on track for Stoute team and gets the vote from Ryan Moore from two in this line-up.
850,000 gns colt by Dubawi and half-brother to multiple winners including the useful Silk Sari. Ran well enough in 1m maiden here in October on soft ground, leaving impression this sort of trip would be more to his liking.
Gelded son of Mastercraftsman, makes first start in this competitive line-up and no surprise if he comes on for the experience.
Son of Foostepsinthesand who fetched €200,000 as a yearling and is a half-brother to St Leger runner-up Ventura Storm. Disappointing when last spotted in 1m2f Newmarket maiden in October and best watched unless vibes are positive.
€215,000 German-bred yearling by Intello, runner-up in 1m Nottingham maiden in November in only start to date, should be more to come and upped in trip for return.
Motivator filly has been unable to land any telling blow in pair of AW maidens over a mile at Kempton so far. Hard to make case for on turf bow.
Forecasts
Young Rascal (3/1), Blazing Saddles (7/2), Shareef Star (13/2), Sharja Silk (7/1), Beer With The Boys (9/1), Jeremiah (12/1), Regal Director (12/1), Corgi (16/1), Hazarfan (16/1), Crystal King (25/1), Endlessly (33/1), Last Viceroy (40/1), Pirate King (50/1), Chiave Di Volta (50/1), Kabrit (50/1), Soto Sizzler (66/1), Saint Mac (66/1), Strongarm Chaser (66/1), Roser Moter (66/1), Academician (66/1)
A tough puzzle to solve and likely to prove a strong contest. Blazing Saddles made a positive start at Doncaster last month and should progress but YOUNG RASCAL earns the vote having finished second at Nottingham on his only outing last term. The Haggas team are in good order right now and the form of that debut run looks to be decent. There is no shortage of potential amongst the newcomers, with Shareef Star, Beer With The Boys and Pirate King all notables.
- Young Rascal
- Shareef Star
- Blazing Saddles
