Rated much higher than this in France and on early starts in this country. Now with his fourth UK trainer and hood applied after a couple of poor performances.
Triple course winner over a mile but he stays further and looked ready for a return to this trip last time when the pace would not have suited. Has a good attitude and looks one of the more likely contenders.
Wide margin winner at Bath last summer and now just 3lb higher as mark has come down quickly following last two starts. Has undergone wind surgery since last run and he does not need to improve much to be a leading player.
Has won three of his last four at Chelmsford and has improved since stepping up in trip. Yet to make the frame here, but has never been beaten far, and his tactical versatility makes him worthy of consideration.
102-rated hurdler who won on the Flat (1m2f, good) in France. Last couple of outings over hurdles fail to instil confidence and current mark looks demanding
Scored over this trip last summer off a mark of 68 and has twice finished runner-up over this C&D. Weighted to go close again.
Recent performances are well below his best and he is difficult to recommend at present until showing a lot more.
Dual French winner who has been running to a consistent standard here over 1m4f. Has given every indication this slightly shorter trip will be ideal and she is another to be considered in a very open contest.
Lightly raced filly who has been given a break having been below-par on her last two runs which were both on AW tracks.
Newbury winner for last June (1m4f good), and moved on for 28,000 gns the following month. Has improved with each run for this yard and now down to his last winning mark, although he remains several pounds below his best judged on his latest effort.
Wide margin winner at Nottingham last August and promised more with a bold show on his reappearance. Champion jockey booked for AW debut and sire gets a good share of winners on artificial surfaces.
Stable seemed to have found the key to him last time as he put in a much improved display from a bad draw. Up in grade and trip for this and that makes him harder to recommend.
Forecasts
Dangerous Ends (4/1), Captain Pugwash (4/1), Boychick (5/1), Deduce (7/1), Camakasi (8/1), Bombero (8/1), Paddy A (10/1), Bostonian (20/1), Illustrissime (20/1), Sula Island (25/1), King's Coinage (25/1), Ortenzia (33/1)
BOMBERO hacked up by 6l in August and has been sparingly campaigned since. There were plenty of positives to take from his reappearance and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa signals intent. Deduce has not quite got home in three recent races here over a furlong further, whilst Boychick is competitively weighted and has twice gone close over C&D. Dangerous Ends, Camakasi and Captain Pugwash are others who should give a good account in a race where plenty have realistic chances.
- Bombero
- Deduce
- Dangerous Ends
