A fortuitous winner at Catterick in mid-December, but he fenced cleanly, and that's the name of the game. Relied upon to run his usual solid race, and has plenty of experience, so that's another tick in the box.

Some useful efforts this season were rewarded with Leicester success (2m, heavy) this month, has form over the trip jumping hurdles but weakened right out of things upped to this distance at Haydock (soft) nine days ago over fences.

Runner-up in a hunters' chase at Musselburgh this month, this looks a tougher assignment on paper.

Far from disgraced in 3m Doncaster Grade 2 in December (third) having filled runner-up berth at Sedgefield on chasing bow in October over this sort of trip. Not hard to see him involved in the shake-up.

Has looked to be in possession of limited ability in ten starts under rules to date, tackles fences for the first time now and has major improvement to find.

C&D effort behind Mister Whitaker in November (good to soft) reads well in light of that rival winning at Cheltenham, may have found 3m beyond him at Wetherby next time, goes near the top of the shortlist back here.

Been running well in both codes of late, winning over timber at Ayr in January (2m 5½f, heavy) and second over fences at Kelso (2m7½f, heavy) last month. Should get involved at the business end again.

Third at Kelso (2m7½f, heavy) last month on chasing bow (Elusive Theatre second), since been pulled up at Sedgefield in novice hurdle over his sort of trip. Others seem more likely in this field.

Forecasts

Elusive Theatre (6/4), Ballycrystal (3/1), Secrete Stream (4/1), Alzammaar (9/2), Bollin Ace (11/1), Always Tipsy (33/1), Expresstime (66/1), Beau Sancy (150/1)

Verdict

SECRETE STREAM ran well behind subsequent Cheltenham Festival winner Mister Whitaker over this C&D in November on his first start over fences. It might be worth arguing that 3m found him out next time at Wetherby and, off a break, he can get back on track today. This is not easy however. Ballycrystal ran well in a Doncaster Grade 2 earlier in the season and joins Alzammaar and Elusive Theatre in heading the list of dangers.
  1. Secrete Stream
  2. Ballycrystal
  3. Alzammaar
