Winner at Hamilton on soft ground in September but has crept up the handicapper without winning subsequently. Conditions in his favour and has race fitness on his side after an AW spin earlier in the month but others preferred for win purposes.
Looks progressive and ran some nice races at Newcastle this winter. Too keen at that course last time and soft ground an unknown here, with his only turf win coming on good to firm. Wears first-time cheekpieces.
Not entirely straightforward and can be slowly away. Dangerous to dismiss off this mark but tends to need his run first up and others preferred.
Won his first start since his maiden at Newmarket at the start of last year but lost his way a little throughout the season. On a nice mark if ready to go first up.
Won this race last year and ran well in defeat throughout most of the rest of 2017. Suspicion is the ground has gone against him here but only 1lb higher than last year's winning mark and capable of going well.
Found some form on the AW this winter and while his turf form is patchy, he did run a big race from out of the handicap at Newmarket towards the end of last season with cut in the ground. Can be slowly away but he's an interesting candidate.
Doesn't look entirely straightforward (can refuse to settle and sometimes hangs). First start for a new yard and won his maiden in soft ground but his handicap mark looks stiff on what he's achieved. Wears first-time tongue-tie.
Shaped as if amiss when last seen at Newcastle and not won since 2015. Hard to fancy on that evidence.
On a long losing run but finds himself on a 12lb lower mark than that success. Despite the fact he acts on soft ground, there were very few signs of encouragement in a jumpers bumper last time out. Wears first-time cheekpieces.
Won on handicap debut at Windsor but struggled on two turf starts subsequently. Better effort when runner-up at Kempton last time and on a fair mark so can't be ruled out.
In good form on the AW this winter and has won off a higher mark than this on turf. Interesting runner and may come on for his most recent run.
Won a French maiden when trained by Andre Fabre but has shown very little on two starts for this yard. Return to turf needs to spark improvement.

TRADING PUNCHES is the tentative selection given his run at Southwell last time suggests he could be coming back to his best form. Shamrokh is another who has found some form on the AW and is potentially on a lenient mark while stablemate Sean O'Casey could prove the main danger with Silvestre De Sousa likely to have had the pick of the Appleby runners.
