Gained his first success in over three years when causing an upset under Serena Brotherton over 6f last week. Beat better horses that day, but his revised mark is lower than today's under a penalty.
Has six C&D wins to his name with five coming in this basement grade. This is the first time that winning formula has come together since his latest victory, so one to keep on the right side.
Made hard work of landing a poor maiden here a year ago before losing her way. Last couple of runs suggest she has found her mark, but this trip may be on the sharp side.
Scored twice over C&D in 2017 including this contest off 2lb higher. Latest efforts have been tame by comparison and marred by poor starts, but weighted to give a good account if on one of his better days.
Can be considered well-handicapped, but recent efforts are below his best and he is yet to find his level. It is now 19 races since his last win and stable are without a winner since last May.
Ideally suited to slower surfaces but went well over C&D last summer and can go well fresh. Up and coming rider booked so could spring a surprise.
Two best runs have come when fresh and her form has been in decline since a promising return in December. Yet to prove as effective on polytrack and probably has too many questions to answer.
Hit a purple patch last spring and the green shoots of recovery were there to be seen last time. Well-drawn for a front-runner and due to race off a slightly higher mark in future.
Only win came at Wolverhampton on second ever start back in 2015. Was running fairly well last summer but now off since July and may well need this.
Without a win for two years and out of form lately. Will have to race from out of the weights and easy to oppose at present.
Forecasts
Red Invader (15/8), Porto Ferro (7/2), It Must Be Faith (9/2), Mighty Zip (6/1), Sandfrankskipsgo (14/1), Nuzha (14/1), Gorgeous (16/1), Mossgo (16/1), Mostashreqah (50/1), Louis Vee (66/1)
A few of these are capable on their day with Red Invader, Sandfranskipsgo and Mossgo all capable of better than recent form figures suggest. It Must Be Faith will find this harder under a penalty over the minimum trip and Porto Ferro is another who would prefer an extra furlong. Nuzha has each-way possibilities with an in-form claimer on board, but MIGHTY ZIP is drawn to make full use of his early pace and his last run signalled a return to the form which produced four victories in 2017.
- Mighty Zip
- Nuzha
- Mossgo
