Pacy individual who has built up a consistent overall profile since scoring with ease (made all) by 1¼L from Avon Green (Hornby third) over C&D last month. However, the handicapper has noted his progression, and a career best effort is required.
Finished just outside of the frame on his sole AW start so far (6f Wolverhampton in September). Has been gelded since leaving Sylvester Kirk for 8,000 gns in October, and debuts for new connections today.
Rewarded for some consistent efforts when winning at Kempton (6f) in mid October. Seemingly harshly treated by the assessor (raised 10lb) for that success and cut no ice in a Class 4 handicap on her return to action last month.
Won readily on debut for previous trainer John Ryan at Brighton in June (6f), but that wasn't a strong contest, and he was eventually sold for 5,500 gns in October. Poor on recent stable debut, and his trainer also saddles Alaska.
Defied the attentions of the handicapper (previous 11lb rise) with a demolition job at Wolverhampton last week. Subsequently raised another 14lb, so theoretically has 8lb in hand here under just a 6lb penalty. A thriving filly.
Slow to make his mark, but much better latest when finishing 1¾L third to Sir Hector (C&D). Much better off at the weights today, but that rival has progressed well since.
Mayson gelding who hasn't managed to finish in front of too many others in three 5f starts so far. Requires a virtual transformation in the first time tongue tie on handicap debut. Little chance.
Forecasts
Rock On Baileys (4/5), Sir Hector (3/1), Jonnysimpson (8/1), Alaska (12/1), Hornby (14/1), Pranceabootthetoon (20/1), Warrior's Valley (25/1)
Sir Hector has developed into a reliable performer over this C&D lately, but the handicapper is fully aware of that fact and has taken evasive action. He's also well aware of the progression of the Chris Dwyer trained filly ROCK ON BAILEYS, but he's firmly on the back-foot and playing catch up with that particular horse. She proved much too strong for some fairly exposed rivals at Wolverhampton last week, but the manner of that victory marked her down as a filly in rude health for a very astute handler of sprinters. 8lb well in (due a 14lb rise) under just a 6lb penalty, she looks nigh impossible to oppose around a track which will almost certainly suit her run style.
- Rock On Baileys
- Sir Hector
- Hornby
