Has posted a pair of solid efforts at this track after a 20-month absence, including chasing home Goring One on Boxing Day over C&D in similar conditions. 6lb better off for 4½L defeat.

Likeable teenager has won his last two at Wincanton and here over C&D on Boxing Day in testing ground. Beat Colmers Hill into second that day by 4½L. Up 6lb and cheekpieces back on, no reason he won't get involved again.

Maiden hurdler who finished 25L third of nine on soft ground over this sort of trip at Ludlow last month on chasing bow, undone somewhat by jumping. Should have learned from that and likely can do better.

Useful effort on reappearance at Lingfield (2m4f, soft) in November but couple of backwards step since and needs first-time blinkers to perk him up now.

Now features 12lb below his last winning mark but hasn't really looked as though he is likely to take advantage of the handicapper's generosity. Did at least manage to complete at Warwick (2m4f, heavy) on New Year's Eve, but that was sole positive.

There have been signs that he could end his long losing run but essentially is a hard one to trust. Despite turning in a season's best last time off this mark at Ludlow he still went in snatches and looked one to be rather wary of.

Record is 3-20 over fences, pulled up behind Goring One at Wincanton last month but shaped better at Uttoxeter since. Needs to build on that.

25/1
Six-time point-to-point winner, unable to land any sort of blow in six starts under rules. Pulled up last month at Kempton (2m, soft) in Grade 2 novices' event on debut for this stable after 16 months off. This is easier but hard to fancy.

Well beaten in all eight starts, including two since joining current handler. Was running with a bit more purpose at Ludlow (3m, good) in October until unseating rider after blundering six out.

Only vaguely interesting performance under rules came when second in a maiden hurdle (3m, heavy), but only four finished that race and she has shown precious little since, including two starts over fences..Tongue tied added now.

Forecasts

For Carmel (9/2), Leith Hill Legasi (5/1), Colmers Hill (5/1), Mount Oliver (11/2), Goring One (7/1), Goosen Maverick (7/1), It's A Steal (8/1), Alberto's Dream (14/1), Gowell (14/1), Mazurati (16/1), Kostaquarta (25/1), Goodnightirene (66/1)

Verdict

Goring One arrives here in thriving form but the teenager is no certainty to confirm last time out form with COLMERS HILL. They were first and second over C&D on Boxing Day and a 6lb swing at the weights can help the runner up turn thing around. He's having just his third start over fences and has scope to improve for a yard in excellent for recently (3-11). It's A Steal can get involved if in the mood while For Carmel has some potential if brushing up on his jumping after last month's chasing bow at Ludlow where he was a remote third.
  1. Colmers Hill
  2. Goring One
  3. For Carmel
