Placed over C&D last time out in a potentially useful horse in Dubai One. Also won over this trip when at Dundalk when trained in Ireland and should find mark and draw both workable.
Has won much better handicaps than this in the past as well as over C&D. Second at Chelmsford last time was encouraging and this looks easier, so he could be one to side with.
Just ahead of Reckless Endeavour over C&D last time out but is only up 1lb for that effort. That was his best effort for a while and he holds claims if building on it.
All three wins have come on turf, but is fairly lightly-raced on the AW. Still needs to leave his last effort (over 6f at Wolverhampton) a long way behind to have a say here.
Ended last year in fine form, winning a 6f handicap at Chelmsford having run well in a races at Kempton. 5lb higher now but should be able to handle this mark and can go very well.
Recently stepped back up to this trip at Newcastle when winning a slightly weaker handicap than this. Up 5lb won't make this easy and he has to defy a break.
Has mostly been regressing since winning a nice handicap at York in September 2015, and is best watched on his first start for a new yard.
Behind a couple of these over C&D towards the end of December. Dropped 5lb but still yet to prove he is up to performing at this level.
Fair strike-rate overall, but all of his more recent wins have come in weaker events than this, and he's liable to be outclassed against some more in-form rivals.
Forecasts
Human Nature (7/4), Reckless Endeavour (7/2), Kasbah (9/2), Boom The Groom (7/1), George Dryden (10/1), Leo Minor (14/1), Ascot Day (16/1), Reflektor (25/1), Upavon (33/1)
It may be worth siding with grand campaigner BOOM THE GROOM. A winner on multiple occasions at a much higher level than this, he ran well at Chelmsford last time and on his best form would have plenty in hand with the rest of these. Recent C&D placer Reckless Endeavour may be next best, ahead of the fairly progressive Kasbah.
- Boom The Groom
- Reckless Endeavour
