Usually runs very well so somewhat unlucky to only be 1/12 in her career so far. This is probably her best trip and her recent form suggests another big performance is likely here.

Zubayr21
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-11| J: Megan Nicholls(5)| T: P F Nicholls| OR:  86| BF| D
13/2
135 rated hurdler who has made a productive return to the Flat recently with one win and two seconds. Not so good over hurdles the last twice but they were deep enough contests and he holds every chance on his return to the level.

Drops in class here having endured something of a losing run lately. Is well handicapped if turning up here in something like her best form but hasn't been able to show that recently.

Three time winner at this course including twice over C&D. Hasn't won any race in almost two years, however, and cheek pieces are now applied for the first time.

Placed in AW contests the last twice, but they were both claiming contests and he needs to show much more now returning to handicap company.

East Indies46
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-7| J: A Kirby| T: G & J Moore| OR:  82
11/1
Dual-purpose performer whose form over hurdles is mixed, but won his only previous start on the AW and isn't completely ruled out now returning to the level.

Langlaufp38
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-7| J: R Winston| T: B R Millman| OR:  82| D
33/1
Encouraging overall record on the AW but has been well-beaten on her more recent starts and needs a revival now, even if she does look on a more workable mark.

Winner over hurdles in May but much longer since he won on the Flat and others arrive here in much better form.

Lexington Lawp44
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-4| J: Tom Marquand| T: A King| OR:  79
14/1
15 race maiden across both codes but not disgraced over hurdles recently and should be capable of winning a race of this nature at some point now returning to the level.

Blaze Of Hearts17
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-1| J: Jack Duern(3)| T: D K Ivory| OR:  76
20/1
Capable performer on his day but efforts on the AW so far haven't been massively encouraging and he's unproven over this trip.

Ourmullionp22
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: Josephine Gordon| T: J R Best| OR:  79| C
6/1
Course winner who has recently been showing good form over this trip at Chelmsford, including when ridden by this jockey. On the same mark as when running a good fourth at that course last time.

Top Beakh,t17
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-10| J: R Havlin| T: M J Attwater| OR:  71
11/2
Still without a win since his Windsor debut back in 2015, but has been running well at this course recently and can't be ruled out off a fair handicap mark.

Forecasts

Cape Peninsular (7/2), Barye (5/1), Top Beak (11/2), Ourmullion (6/1), Zubayr (13/2), East Indies (11/1), Elysian Fields (12/1), Lexington Law (14/1), Every Chance (16/1), Blaze Of Hearts (20/1), Langlauf (33/1), Argus (80/1)

Verdict

It has been impressive how well ZUBAYR has been running on the level recently. Paul Nicholls' gelding was originally a Flat horse but has since run creditably in a number of good hurdle races. Now returned to this sphere he has won once and finished second twice, and in this easier handicap looks set to run another big race. Cape Peninsula is expected to run her usual big race and can give the selection most to think about, ahead of Top Beak who can go well off a low weight.
  1. Zubayr
  2. Cape Peninsular
  3. Top Beak
