Has not been to the well too often since arriving in Britain and ran well here over C&D on his first start for this yard in January. Has been reasonably competitive in better company of late, so drop in his mark/grade should make him tough to beat.
Won several times on turf over this trip in Italy. Went off too fast on British debut at Epsom in August and finished last there. Surely has more to offer than that and jockey booking combined with first-time hood means he is worth a market check.
Scored over 1m3f at Southwell in March from 18lb lower and that improvement has come largely on turf, where he has won three times since. Appeared to handle this surface well enough on both previous runs, though handicapper probably now in control.
Won twice here over 1m in 2011/2012 but has not got his nose in front for well over two years. Has a squeak from this mark based on his Leicester run two starts ago, but questions for him to answer over this far.
Won his maiden here over 7f and not disgraced back here in a handicap in April when 6lb lower. Scored when last seen at Goodwood (1m, soft) in September. Up 6lb for that and now up in trip too. Possibilities on first run for this trainer.
Scored at Kempton (7f) on his second start and added a Windsor handicap to that (1m2f, good) from a mark of 84 two runs later. Well beaten both starts since over longer trips and in better company and has a bit to prove.
Has been largely campaigned on turf on the Flat and also over hurdles. Stays 1m4f and went very close on sole AW start at Wolverhampton. 2lb drop will help and stable's runners going well, but needs to find a bit nonetheless.
Versatile on AW surfaces with wins at three different tracks, including here over C&D in January. 16lb higher these days after a good 2017 and not beaten far from this mark on his last two starts. Enters calculations.
Goes well here and won this last year from 6lb lower. Followed up from 3lb lower next time and remained competitive from slightly higher berths. Entitled to need last month's run after six-month absence and a repeat win would not surprise.
Forecasts
Emenem (2/1), Intrepidly (7/2), Kyllachy Gala (9/2), Cosmeapolitan (15/2), Bronze Angel (8/1), Storm King (8/1), Noble Peace (20/1), Van Huysen (25/1), Fanoulpifer (50/1)
Van Huysen looks to have been readied for a bid to repeat last year's success in this race. That would not be a surprise win, though he will have to be a little bit better than 12-months ago to see off KYLLACHY GALA, who appeals now dropped a few pounds and into this grade. Fanoulpifer is worth a check in the market, while Noble Peace and Emenem are others likely to show up well.
- Kyllachy Gala
- Van Huysen
- Emenem
