Winless in 2017, but has worked his way back down to a fair mark as a result. Beaten 6½L (fourth) when back on synthetics at Chelmsford in July (6f), and looks as if he has been put away for a productive winter campaign.
Versatile in trip, but probably strongest over 6f. Proved he handles this surface in a decent 7f contest here last December, and has been knocking firmly at the door on turf over 7f. Every chance off his current mark.
Ended the turf season in decent form with a ¾L second to Glenamoy Lad at Newmarket in September (6f good). Climbing the weights; raised another 3lb. Has rather limited AW experience, and this is his debut on Tapeta.
Absent since October 2016, and 5lb above his last winning mark, so of course that's a major concern. However, on the plus side, he handles Tapeta and is strong in terms of stamina (6f and 7f winner). Watching brief advised.
Best with cut and enjoyed a productive early few months of the turf season, proving well suited by the Pontefract hill. High in the weights for his AW debut, but he did have form as juvenile here on turf (same undulations).
Veteran who is best suited by a strong early pace. Ended the turf season in form with placed efforts at Newmarket and Doncaster (7f). Stays well, and well treated on synthetics (5lb lower than on turf), but that's because he's 0 from 13 on the AW.
Struggled in the main during 2017 since his return from an 18 month absence in May. However, he's fallen 24lb during that period (from Listed races) and posted an encouraging 2½L fourth to Gulliver at Kempton latest (6f).
Made all under this rider to down Bahamian Dollar by 2L over C&D in February, and has built on that success since on turf with a victory at Haydock in June (6f soft). More to do in a stronger race.
Ex Irish racer who has improved since joining this trainer. Edged out tonight's rival Mount Kiara at Newmarket (6f good) in September, but faces a more difficult assignment now on revised terms having risen 6lb in the weights for that success.
Much stronger on the AW than on turf, and is a winner on all three synthetic surfaces, most latterly on Fibresand at Southwell in mid October (7f). His form has tailed off slightly since, and he looks a fraction high in the weights.
Hasn't won since August 2015, and left David O'Meara earlier in the year for pastures new. Made the frame (third) on his second start for this stable at Pontefract last month (5f soft) and now switches to the AW (debut).
Won twice over 5f on the AW at Dundalk when with former trainer Dermot Weld, and got off the mark in England with a game C&D success in a fillies handicap earlier this month. Up 3lb in a stronger contest.
In excellent shape, and was beaten just a nose by Boy In The Bar over C&D last month. Up 3lb, but he's won here off higher marks in the past, and with such a strong AW course record (3,2,1,2) looks a leading player.
More effective on the AW than on turf, and that's shown in a handicap rating which is 10lb higher on synthetics. However, is in the midst of a poor run of form, and needs to up his game considerably in order to be involved.

Very competitive, and the clear highlight on tonight's Newcastle card. Kenny The Captain appears very well suited by this C&D, and a winner here in the more distant past on grass, he has built a pleasing course record since the conversion to Tapeta (3,2,1,2). He has been raised 3lb since his latest narrow defeat by Boy In The Bar last month, but he was successful from a 3lb higher mark last November, so that's unlikely to stop him from winning. Mont Kiara should have the measure of old foe Glenamoy Lad on revised terms from Newmarket, assuming that he handles the switch to Tapeta, whilst the once classy Tropics is now very well handicapped for Dean Ivory. However, the selection is RIGHT TOUCH. He has raced consistently of late on turf over 7f, and is seemingly strongest over this shorter trip. He looks handicapped to go very close from a mark which is 9lb lower than when beaten just under 1L by Steel Train over 7f here in December 2016.
