Has his quirks but useful on his day, as he showed when winning the Group 3 Ormonde Stakes at Chester earlier this year. Twice a winner at the track, trip here ideal but it's more about what side of bed he gets out of, as ability is not in question.

Useful handicapper on his day, and capable in Pattern company as he showed when winning at Lingfield (10f) last time out. This trip still a question, however, with best efforts over shorter. On that, others preferred.

Not seen out since winning at Epsom in June, finished eighth in this last year but has gone well fresh in the past. Does still need to prove he stays this trip (efforts at it in the past have been moderate) and needs more here.

Generally consistent efforts this year, and handles this surface well as he showed when a head second to Titi Makfi here last time out. Holds Western Hymn on that form, slight concern he's not won one since May 2016 but should be on the premises.

Has won over further, but fully effective at this trip and likely to make a bold bid from the front. Winner on the AW at Lingfield last time, her only attempt on the surface (Listed event) so may yet have a bit more in the tank. Not ruled out.

Lingfield handicap winner around this time last year, tale of steady progression since then and deserves another shot in this company. Does need to improve a little though, but may yet have a bit more to offer.

Mountain Bell32
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-1| J: M Harley| T: R M Beckett| OR:  107| D
5/2
Takes a slight step down the grading ladder after solid efforts in Group 3 company last two runs (ran very well on the first of them), has no experience of AW and pedigree arguably more that of a turf performer, but respected all the same.

Three times a winner at Velifendi for former trainer, makes debut for new yard tonight but overall form suggests she has plenty to find on the figures to get involved here.

Looked to have a future after an impressive debut at Newmarket in 2016, but it's all rather unravelled since then, and she finished well beaten at Saint Cloud on latest start. Now tries blinkers and has plenty of questions to answer.

Great Court33
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-10| J: J Mitchell| T: R Varian| OR:  89| D
14/1
Has her plus points in that she is at least improving and proven on the surface. but the bottom line is that she has a mountain to climb on the figures and needs huge improvement from somewhere to get involved.

Forecasts

Mountain Bell (5/2), Red Verdon (4/1), Master The World (13/2), Daphne (7/1), Western Hymn (7/1), Not So Sleepy (10/1), Astronomy's Choice (12/1), Indulged (12/1), Great Court (14/1), Tenerife Song (25/1)

Verdict

A good Listed race to brighten up this evening's Kempton card, and a few hold chances. DAPHNE showed that the sand holds no terrors when winning at Lingfield last time and can make all the running here. Red Verdon is nothing if not consistent and has every chance of getting in the places again, at worst. Indulged has a bit to find on form but is still improving a little and may reward each-way support.
