Proved himself a useful performer over 6f of late winning three handicaps at the trip one of which was over C&D. Ran with credit over 7f last time at York under a penalty and well drawn here to take a prominent role and has a leading chance.

Finally ended a long losing run courtesy of a much reduced mark at Wetherby earlier in the year and followed that up with another win. Had plenty of outings subsequently although looks to have gone off the boil again.

Off the mark for the year on his seasonal/stable debut (has needed the run in the past) but has failed to really show that form since. Left poorly placed when running a moderate race last time and best watched for now.

Rather tricky customer who has talent but doesn't always appear to want to use it often following a good run with a poor one. Only win of his career came on his second start and hard to fancy here.

Has won on turf but last two wins have come on Fibresand over 6f and this suspicion is that he's better on that surface and other synthetic surfaces. Ran with credit on the Tapeta at Newcastle last time, chance if he can reproduce that back on turf.

There's no doubt that he's well handicapped on his old form but he cam starts slowly and often flatters to deceive because of that factor. Continued well below form last time out and this ground may well be too soft also.

Has conditions in his favour although the losing run now stands at 16 so any enthusiasm is tempered slightly. Keeps reaching the frame and looks well handicapped although he may need everything to drop right to break the losing run.

Scored twice in handicaps earlier in the year within the space of a week over 5/6f but hasn't shown much spark since the last of those wins. Often starts slowly and unless they go very quickly here he could be on the back foot all the way.

Confirmed the promise of his previous run when winning a C&D 0-60 in August and ran with credit on his next start. Found his good run of form coming to an end last time and out of the weights here in a better grade.

Forecasts

Short Work (11/8), Tricky Dicky (3/1), See The Sun (5/1), Adam's Ale (10/1), Ballymore Castle (12/1), Spirit Of Zebedee (20/1), Lucky Beggar (25/1), Peachey Carnehan (33/1), Laughton (33/1)

Verdict

This doesn’t look to have the depth of the first division and Richard Fahey who won both divisions of this last year will be struggling to win one of them this year. He runs the quirky Ballymore Castle in this a horse who only has one maiden win to his name. SHORT WORK has been in very progressive form of late and ran well last time out with the 7f trip finding him out and this 6f will suit much better and he looks to have a leading chance to score another handicap victory. See The Sun has his best chance for a while to break his losing spell but another place may be the best he can manage while Tricky Dicky has shown his best form of late on synthetic surfaces. Adam’s Ale would be interesting if he could regain his earlier form from a yard that are always to be respected with their sprinters.
  1. Short Work
  2. See The Sun
  3. Adam's Ale
