Career best when winning 12-runner contest over a mile here last week, leaving previous form well and truly behind. Up 5lb for this shorter trip but has to be respected on just fourth career AW run.

Achieved a lenient mark after three moderate efforts in maidens. Performances in handicaps have also been uninspiring and the drop back to 7f last month at Brighton didn't appear to help.

Beaten out of sight in three C&D maidens and no improvement on handicap debut at Chelmsford last month, impossible to fancy at the moment.

Eight-race maiden and well held in the main including in first-time blinkers when racing over 6f at Chelmsford last month. Since been well fended off on turf at Bath, the headgear is dispensed with and few positives now upped in trip again.

Not managed to threaten in AW handicaps at Chelmsford (7f) or Southwell (6f) recently and is passed over again for this based on form.

No sign of ability in four starts thus far, 15L last of eight at Southwell on handicap bow over 5f and now tackling 7f for the first time. Watching brief advised.

Improved somewhat in first-time cheekpieces (retained) over C&D last week but still some way short of launching a bid, more required.

Often races too keenly for his own good, doing so again over C&D last week when coming 3¼L fifth of 13 under this rider. Hood is tried now and would be a threat if settling better.

Beat more than 12L over a mile around here four weeks ago, has plenty work to do if hoping to be competitive dropped in trip.

Filly has not shown anything in five starts, including handicap bow over 6f at Catterick (good to soft) last time out, to merit support for this.

Well fended off over this trip at Salisbury earlier in the month on handicap bow, that was a return from more than a year off so could potentially have more to offer now.

Has looked poor so far and a tendency to drop away tamely under pressure poses a serious challenge to his skilled trainer. Faded again over C&D a fortnight ago, cheekpieces go on now.

Filly has made the frame just once in six starts, in a 5f seller at Lingfield in December. Off for 223 days and going up significantly in distance for return to action.

Forecasts

Belgravian (13/8), Lady Kaviar (15/8), Caribbean Spring (6/1), Q Cee (7/1), Angelical Eve (12/1), Warba (14/1), Sixth Of June (20/1), Stragar (20/1), Arquus (25/1), Quick Monet (33/1), Compton Brave (40/1), Paco Lady (80/1), Slipalongtrevaskis (100/1), Our Ruth (150/1)

Verdict

LADY KAVIAR turned in a much improved effort to win over C&D a week ago and, with that effort behind her, a 5lb hike is far from insurmountable. In a race where plenty have questions to answer, that evidence makes her the most likely winner. Belgravian needs the hood to assist him early on if he isn't to spoil his chance again, but if he settles he could extend Oisin Murphy's fine strike rate for his trainer. Caribbean Spring has the form to get involved if turning up while Sixth Of June and the returning Warba are worth noting in the betting.
  1. Lady Kaviar

  3. Sixth Of June
