Twice an AW winner for previous trainer (up to 1m4½f), poor here on second start for new handler a fortnight ago and now tackles this significantly longer journey for first time off workable mark.
Not won for over two years but on a feasible mark as a result. Has won five times on the AW but plenty improvement needed to figure now.
Runner-up at Lingfield in July on turf over this trip, not as good next time at Chepstow but perhaps worth forgiving that run given the nature of that course.
C&D winner in 2015, has put together a trio of solid efforts lately at Kempton and Chelmsford and goes on the shortlist back here as a consequence.
Ex-Richard Fahey inmate, has won 11 times from 56 career starts, but struggling in five starts since relocating to this yard. Back up in trip and would hold obvious claims if able to find some form.
A nine race maiden under all codes, didn't really see his race out over 2m on AW at Kempton earlier in the month and so has a few questions to answer at the moment.
Uttoxeter bumper (May 2014) and Newton Abbot handicap hurdle (June 2016) winner, but yet to show much in four starts on the Flat since August. Latest over 2m at Lingfield being the worst or date and watching brief called for.
Irish raider showed glimpses of promise in maidens and ran fair race over 1m2½f at Dundalk eight days ago on the AW. Worth paying some attention to stepped up markedly in trip.
Winner over 1m6f at Salisbury in August, ran promising race on AW bow at Kempton earlier this month when tackling 2m for the first time, scope to do better over this sort of trip.
Not won for over two years and just has one win from 24 starts on the AW, well held here over 1m4f in August but should be much better suited by this stamina test and on a handy mark.
Victorious over this sort of trip in an AW contest at Lingfield in August 2015 and absent until beaten 11L over C&D back in June. Failed to build on that in two runs since and a risky proposition at present.
Kept busy this year but no win on the board since January, and although there's the odd good run in between the mediocre ones, yard have had a poor year and on that and poor Chelmsford show this month (1m2f), he's passed over again.
Has been a revelation upped to this trip at Chelmsford and Newcastle this month. Had 1½L to spare at spare at Gosforth Park on Thursday evening and will be in the mix again but perhaps vulnerable off a 10lb higher mark for third run in nine days.
Forecasts
Navajo Star (10/3), Asian Wing (4/1), Ballyfarsoon (9/2), Ocean Gale (13/2), Molly Kaye (15/2), Yasir (12/1), The Last Melon (14/1), Gabrial The Duke (16/1), Hermarna (18/1), Almutamarred (20/1), Bumble Bay (28/1), Storming Harry (33/1), Medieval Bishop (50/1)
Navajo Star has been a new proposition since tackling this longer trip, scoring for the second time in quick succession at Newcastle on Thursday, having previously recorded a facile Chelmsford win. She was well on top at the line last time but, from this increased mark, is no certainty to complete the hat-trick on her third outing in nine days. Former C&D winner Ballyfarsoon has been knocking on the door lately and is respect returning here while Medieval Bishop is on a decent mark if this longer trip brings out his best. Irish raider Molly Kaye needs attention in the betting upped in trip but OCEAN GALE made a solid fist of things meeting this trip for the first time Kempton recently and could have a big say if building on that run.
- Ocean Gale
- Navajo Star
- Ballyfarsoon
