Played only a minor role in maiden/novice races but is entitled to do better now handicapping. Still has it all to do on this occasion off his opening mark.

Disappointing last time when finishing a well-beaten last of eight but looked promising in handicaps at this level prior to that and should go close if putting her last poor effort behind her.

Two solid efforts in handicaps so far, both at Bath, but seems to act on this surface too on the basis of a good third in a novice race in May. Top jockey from that occasion returns to the saddle here and she looks to hold leading claims.

Slightly better effort in the middle of her three races up to now, but that was only an average novice event and she has now been off since July. Others hold more convincing claims.

One of the more exposed runners in the field here without having managed to get off the mark up to now. Mark is down again (now 10lb lower than the beginning of September) but much more needed from a far from ideal draw.

Well beaten on handicap debut at Carlisle last time out (6f, heavy). Interesting to see how he does now down in trip on a synthetic surface but he still has too many questions to answer.

Put in one of her better efforts at Bath last time when not beaten far into third place. Seems to be on a workable mark and a good apprentice claiming 7lb only enhances her claims.

Three largely forgettable efforts in maiden/novice events up to now and makes her handicap debut off a mark which seems about right; probably looks set for a place at best here.

Ran a fair race over further at this course last time out when looking like this drop back down in trip shouldn't hurt. First-time blinkers should bring about some further improvement and he's a player if so.

Well held in four starts so far, including on handicap debut over this trip last time out. Looks a very long way off the best of these even in this average affair.

Forecasts

Jonnysimpson (9/4), Bodybuilder (5/1), Cove Beach (6/1), Avenging Red (6/1), Zapateado (7/1), Magic Pulse (12/1), Mossketeer (12/1), Acromatic (16/1), Devil Or Angel (25/1), Mocead Cappall (33/1)

Verdict

After two more than satisfactory efforts in handicaps up to now, this could be JONNYSIMPSON's opportunity to get off the mark. This filly ran well under the same top jockey at this course earlier in the year, and has since shown she possesses enough speed off this mark to prove effective in handicaps of a similar quality to this. She seems the likeliest option in a field where many have run fairly at this level recently, including Cove Beach, who may be able to bounce back after a poor showing last time, and the first-time blinkered Avenging Red.
  1. Jonnysimpson
  2. Cove Beach
  3. Avenging Red
