Placed in France and off the mark when winning a maiden for this yard at Bath (1m, good-to-firm) in August. Highly tried subsequently and this looks more realistic.
Not beaten far in a bunch finish over this trip at Newbury (good) last time out. Has won over C&D in the past and races off a mark 5lb lower than when beaten a nose at Newbury in April.
Victorious at Newmarket (good-to-soft) over 1m in July and put in a couple of good efforts subsequently. Disappointing last time and needs to put that run behind him if he's to take this.
Successful off an 8lb lower mark at Chepstow last month and placed on both starts since. Latest of those came off this mark on heavy ground at Epsom earlier this month and he is likely to run well once more.
Had a couple of useful rivals behind him when winning over 1m at Newbury (good-to-firm) in August last year but well beaten in a Listed contest subsequently. Interesting contender on his first outing in handicap company following over a year off.
Made a winning debut when victorious on the AW over 1m at Newcastle in February. Unraced since but represents a leading stable and is one to note on his handicap debut.
Broke his maiden at the third time of asking at Kempton over 1m last time out. Had a break since then and not certain to appreciate this step up in trip for his handicap debut.
Recorded three decent efforts so far this year including when runner-up in a four runner contest over an extended 1m3f on good-to-soft ground here last time out. Drop in trip should suit.
Finished third on both starts since being gelded during the summer. Races off the same mark as when running over this trip at Pontefract (heavy) last month and interesting to see how he fares today.
Maiden winner at Kempton in December last year but held fifth on his handicap debut over this trip at the same course last month and others make more appeal.
Sole success came on the AW at Lingfield back in March. Well beaten in four starts since including in France on the last three occasions and debuts for a new trainer today.
Seven race maiden and well beaten on his first start since being gelded in a maiden event over 1m at Lingfield earlier this month. More needed if he's to take this.

Garrick (3/1), Andok (13/2), Good Way Off (13/2), Sparte Quercus (7/1), Jus Pires (8/1), Grapevine (9/1), Lime And Lemon (10/1), Fast Dancer (10/1), Intermodal (12/1), Genetics (14/1), Lawmaking (16/1), Island Brave (100/1), Zamalight (100/1)
SPARTE QUERCUS has been running well of late and he can gain reward for a couple of placed efforts by taking this competitive handicap. The selection is flexible in terms of going and can get the better of Garrick who represents a leading stable on his handicap debut. Andok, third on his two most recent starts can fill the same position once more.
- Sparte Quercus
- Garrick
- Andok
