Appears well suited by a good test of stamina and finished a very close second to La Fritillaire last time out finishing just held. Has relished racing since being stepped up to this sort of trip and looks sure to go well again.
Narrowly defeated Transpennine Star last time out and is 1lb worse off for just a nose win. That was her first C&D win although she has run won at the course before and the cheekpieces are retained here as she bids to follow-up; usually prominently ridden.
Showed some fair hurdling form when with Richard Newland but hasn't won for this yard in that sphere with his mark declining. Not seen on the Flat for while but should be competitive if he can prove his stamina in this sphere.
Looks to have his temperament issues and has shown very little form this year running in races similar to this on his last two starts. Doesn't look one to trust overall and others much preferred here.
Returns to the Flat (last Flat win came six years ago) and is far better known these days as a hurdler/chaser. Has never won over this far on the Flat but should stay this far and worth watching in the market.
Has won over 2m on soft ground but like many of these seen more frequently these days over hurdles. Ran with credit off a 2lb higher mark last time over 2m and he's finished second over C&D before under today's rider off a higher mark.
Last win came over three years ago but has won around here over shorter and now takes a significant step-up in trip. Shaped as though the run would bring her on last time and would have a chance if she stayed this far.
Not the most reliable individual and although he stays well and is a previous course winner the losing run is getting longer and longer. Finished second last time out (best run of season) but flattered by how close he got to the winner; place chance at best.
Will have no trouble staying this trip having won around here over further earlier in the season. That remains his standout effort of the year and his focus early on in his races has been hampering his efforts ever since.
A real awkward customer but one who can win races like this often after dropping herself out early. She's twice won over C&D and while she is on a long losing run she is capable of popping up on a going day although those are few and far between.
Forecasts
Transpennine Star (9/4), La Fritillaire (9/2), Dan Emmett (5/1), Tuscan Gold (7/1), Riptide (11/1), Gran Maestro (11/1), Madam Lilibet (12/1), Lady Of Yue (16/1), Raktiman (20/1), Rock On Bollinski (33/1)
This should be quite a test on the prevailing ground and TRANSPENNINE STAR wouldn’t really be winning out of turn but he may well just have enough in him to reverse his recent form with La Fritillaire who should once again run her race. Outside of that duo it’s hard to make a solid case for many of the others with a few temperamental types in the field. Gran Maestro hasn’t been seen on the Flat for a while but he should be capable off this mark and he along with Dan Emmett and Raktiman should give it a good shot at gaining a place.
- Transpennine Star
- La Fritillaire
- Gran Maestro
