Two recent turf efforts after a break have been uninspiring but he went close twice at Lingfield (1m4f, AW) in May and is potentially well-treated on that form. Cheekpieces introduced too, so clearly of interest.
Beaten 4L in a maiden contest over 1m2f at Lingfield (good) on her penultimate outing in June but disappointing on slightly easier ground next time (handicap debut). Plenty to prove over this longer trip but break may have refreshed her.
Little impact in maidens but clear signs of improvement over a 1m3f on her handicap debut when third at Yarmouth (good to firm). Likely there is more to come over this longer trip and jockey booking takes the eye. Looks a player.
Remains a maiden after 18 attempts, though has placed on numerous occasions. Not disgraced over a much shorter trip last time but hardly shaping as a winner in waiting, despite having more in favour from a falling mark now.
Improved to get off the mark at Thirsk (1m4f, good to soft) last month and is better than he showed at Ripon last time out (did too much in front). Current mark looks workable if first-time cheekpieces have the desired effect.
Ran too bad to be true at Lingfield last time but earlier form had a solid look about it, having won at Hamilton earlier in the year and finished second at Bath (1m3f, good to firm). No margin for error though.
Eight race maiden who has been unable to take advantage of a plunging mark and, if anything, looks to be regressing. Dropped another 4lb since his latest effort at Yarmouth but must pick things up to prosper.
Won a Lingfield seller over an extended 1m3f in July and has since run three decent races without quite looking like winning, including over 2m. Every chance cheekpieces could elicit some improvement, so no forlorn hope.
Cut little ice at long odds in maidens over shorter distances but flashes of improvement since sent handicapping over further, though 2m was probably stretching it a bit last time. Of interest off current mark with yard in good form.
Well beaten all starts this year and hard to find the positives now, though he did at least show some aptitude for this sort of stamina test on the AW at Southwell last month. Still must improve considerably.
Modest efforts in maidens and well held in both handicap starts, finishing completely tailed off when failing to stay 2m last time. Hard to make a case for on what she's shown so far.
No impact in maidens and it has been a similar story in handicaps so far, finishing tailed off on soft ground in a first-time visor at Lingfield last time. Yard is quiet too right now, so hard to fancy.
Showed first glimpses of promise when fourth of 10 on his handicap debut in first-time blinkers at Wolverhampton (1m6f) last month but couldn't back that up on turf next time. Possibly worth a look back on the AW from such a lowly mark.
Beaten an aggregate of 131L in three maiden starts before finishing tailed off on his handicap debut over 1m4f on soft ground at Chepstow. First run on the AW today and is surely best watched.
Forecasts
Starshell (6/4), Glassalt (4/1), Challow (7/1), Snowy Winter (10/1), Artic Nel (10/1), Tewafeedj (11/1), Bermondsey Belle (12/1), Volturnus (16/1), Mr Davies (25/1), Ablaze (25/1), Navajo Star (33/1), Mungo Madness (33/1), Lady Prima (66/1), Breeze Up (66/1)
Recent turf disappointment Starshell returns to the AW on a potentially lenient mark and is of obvious interest in first-time cheekpieces, though lightly-raced improver GLASSALT is even more persuasive on the evidence of a staying-on effort over slightly shorter at Yarmouth on his handicap debut. Tewafeedj and Ablaze - each sporting first-time cheekpieces - look the most interesting of the remainder.
- Glassalt
- Starshell
- Tewafeedj
