Has drawn a blank so far this season but has been unlucky not to get his head in front based on some find performances. Versatile as concerns trip/ground, and surely must have another victory in her soon.

Winner at Bath in May and should enjoy this test based on that evidence; still 7lb higher, though, and needs to prove this weight isn't a prohibitive one.

The Bear Can Fly26
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-13| J: K Shoemark| T: D Menuisier| OR:  63| BF

Fair efforts in three maidens to date, and makes her handicap debut here. Conditions should suit and every chance that the opening mark she has been allotted could prove to be a lenient one in time.

0-8 overall and plenty to prove following a 10L+ defeat at Chepstow last time out. Trainer hasn't had a three-year-old winner on turf for over five years.

Makes her turf debut having run only okay in three maidens and then on handicap debut. Needs to overcome a fair absence (since February), and would appear to have his work cut out off his current mark.

Cooperess39
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-7| J: M Dwyer| T: D Burchell| OR:  48

Has her first run for this yard, having previously been with John O'Shea. Has stamina to prove over this far, though she should enjoy the ground, overall strike-race not encouraging.

Not at her best so far this term, and though she may not have had her ideal conditions she has plenty to prove from out of the handicap here.

Saxony92

Three defeats this year all of 10L+, looks practically devoid of ability and impossible to recommend based on her recent form.

Mistress Viz27
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-6| J: Aled Beech(7)| T: D M Loughnane| OR:  56

Still looking for her first career win and on the evidence of a poor display at Lingfield last time she will probably need a deal more assistance from the handicapper before that happens.

Assertorh11
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-5| J: Finley Marsh(5)| T: A W Carroll| OR:  55
18/1
Makes her handicap debut having run to a similar, unremarkable level in most of her starts in maidens. Liable to struggle off this opening mark.

A winner at Sandown two starts ago and may not stay the longer trip she tried last time out. Mark should be workable and there's every chance that she could have more to offer in time.

Forecasts

Fastnet Spin (7/2), The Bear Can Fly (7/2), Born To Please (9/2), Waves (11/2), Mistress Viz (8/1), Everdina (10/1), Imperial Link (10/1), Cooperess (12/1), Mooroverthebridge (12/1), Bois D'ebene (16/1), Assertor (18/1), Saxony (66/1)

Verdict

Most of these have one reason or another they seem unlikely prospects, but perhaps THE BEAR CAN FLY can take advantage of a potentially lenient opening handicap mark and strike here. Of the three handicap debutantes she seems by far the best treated based on the promise she's shown and should have more to offer in conditions which should suit. Recent Sandown scorer Born To Please the versatile top-weight Fastnet Spin are others to consider.
  1. The Bear Can Fly
  2. Born To Please
  3. Fastnet Spin
