His C&D run on his penultimate start was a disappointing one but he's been good heart apart from that run winning at Haydock from a 4lb lower mark. Gets the inside stall here and that will be helpful to his chance here and a good run is expected.

Had been looking likely to win and end a long losing run and did so at Musselburgh back in April off a mark of 89. Looks to be back to some sort of form after a dip in performance of late but still has work to do to win this.

His first effort of the year suggested better to come when he was runner-up at York off a mark of 85. Switched to classified stakes company last time out and made a short price favourite he came up a little short over 7f and he might need a mile now.

A course winner in a lower grade over a bare 7f off a mark of 80 hasn't been in the same form in two runs since and may have been flattered by that run. Still 7lb above that last winning mark and faces a stiff task here.

Hasn't really fared that well here with the draw here although it's hard to fault his recent form winning both start for his former yard in the spring. Ran a sound enough race back on turf for his new yard but the draw could scupper his ambitions.

Has run some decent races around here (course winner over shorter) and his runner-up effort here in May is his best effort this season. Form of late is modest and his mark looks a little high although the draw gods have been kind.

Won two of his last three races beating small fields on both occasions and given his prominent run style he's not badly drawn here. Up 6lb for his latest win he is a C&D winner although this is a deeper race but he's still respected.

His form this year leaves a little to be desired and the handicapper looks to be in control of things and not letting go at all. Cheekpieces go on for the first time but the draw curbs any enthusiasm for his chance.

Ended last season in good form but the first run this season apart he's not really looked as though he is going to repeat those runs. Slips back below his last winning mark here but no real signs of returning to winning form.

There have been various hints at him coming back to form of late not least the penultimate run here in first-time blinkers. Failed to back that run up however on the AW last time out and despite the falling mark he has questions to answer.

Was kept busy and in winning form on the AW at the start of the year (four wins to his name). Now back from a break and once again not ideally drawn and that means others are preferred here.

Made his name on the AW taking advantage of a lowly handicap mark and then managed to exploit the same "loophole" returned to turf. Kept the improvement going last time at Carlisle and hard to totally rule out here off his highest turf mark.

Forecasts

Sun Lover (3/1), Calder Prince (4/1), Penwortham (9/2), Kenstone (15/2), Twin Appeal (9/1), Dark Devil (10/1), Echo Of Lightning (12/1), Gabrial's Kaka (16/1), Heir To A Throne (20/1), Explain (20/1), Bouclier (33/1), Call Out Loud (40/1)

Verdict

Stall 1 and a front-running profile may well be a marriage made in heaven for CALDER PRINCE who looks sure to make use of his good draw and keep his good run of form going. Sun Lover is an obvious improver but has that improvement stalled a little of late and he’s drawn slightly wider than ideal. Echo Of Lightning is rising through the handicap but should get a race run to suit and is given a chance while Kenstone isn’t left out of this despite a career high mark. Gabrial’s Kaka looks to be just about the pick of the Fahey trio and will be dangerous if he can find his form off this mark.
  1. Calder Prince
  2. Echo Of Lightning
  3. Sun Lover
