Kodiac colt, cost 150,000 gns as a foal and 200,000 gns as a yearling. Closely related to Group 2 winner Infamous Angel and dam a half-sister to Listed winner Sgt Pepper. Sixth in a valuable maiden at the Goodwood Festival and yard in good form with their juveniles this year. Second over this trip on debut and will take a fair amount of beating in this contest.

Society Rock gelding, cost €41,000 as a foal and 46,000 gns as a yearling. Half brother to multiple winners and dam a full-sister to US Grade 1 winner Subtle Power. Yard done well with their juveniles from a limited runners this year but perhaps not a good sign he's already gelded.
War Front colt, closely related to Group 1 winner Peeping Fawn and half-brother to Group 1 winner Thewayyouare. Beautifully bred but pedigree suggests he may want faster ground than what he will get here.

Havana Gold colt, cost 20,000 gns as a foal and €55,000 as a yearling. Dam Listed placed over 6f at two-years-old and out of a half-sister to Listed winner Aetna. Improved from his debut to finish runner-up at Ascot last time, still perhaps a little green. No match for the winner but yard's juveniles warrant respect and should run well with improvement likely.

Dark Angel colt, half-brother to multiple stayers over middle distances and dam a 1,000 Guineas winner. Struggled to land any sort of blow on debut at Yarmouth on debut and may need more time.

Rock Of Girbaltar colt, cost £45,000 as a Breeze-Up purchase. Showed very little on debut at Doncaster and similar story at that same course last time. Hard to fancy on all known form.

5/1
Dark Angel colt, cost 105,000 gns as a yearling and half-brother to Kiss Goodnight. Well beaten at Yarmouth on debut but yard's runners often progress markedly from their first outing and booking of De Sousa suggests a big run may be expected.

Forecasts

Algam (11/8), Cuban Heel (3/1), Comrade In Arms (4/1), Verstappen (5/1), Dark Spec (20/1), Blacklooks (33/1), The Fettler (66/1)

Verdict

ALGAM ran well at Goodwood last time out and that maiden is likely to be the best form in the contest given time. Cuban Heel can't be ruled out but it's Verstappen who may come on for his debut run and give Algam most to think about.
  1. Algam
  2. Verstappen
  3. Cuban Heel
