Changed hands for 40,000 guineas as a yearling and is a half-brother to the 6f winner Scrudding. Yard recently sent out first juvenile winner of the season but percentage call to look elsewhere.

January foal out of a 1m2f winning dam (including at two). Cost 130,000 guineas as a yearling and interesting to see how he fares in the betting with yard's juveniles so far quiet.
March foal who is a half-brother to the smart 7f/1m winner Udododontu. Cost 110,000 guineas and, though yard's juveniles invariably need time, positive jockey booking catches the eye.
March foal out of a 1m2f from a good family. Plenty to like on paper and holds an entry for next year's Derby. Will appreciate further in time but worth considering first time out.

Likeable pedigree being by Dubawi out of a dam who was a sister to the smart pair Silkwood and Kavango. Jockey bookings suggest he isn't the yards number one hope.

February foal from a good family who saw his price-tag rise to €550,000 when resold earlier this year. Obviously plenty to like but seemingly overlooked by William Buick in favour of Symbolization.

Precocious pedigree being a half-brother to the winning juveniles Power Play and Benediction. Yard's newcomers invariably command respect.

Cape Cross colt out of a strong staying dam. Breeding suggests he will appreciate further in time but jockey bookings suggest he is the pick of the stable's trio. Obvious claims given the yard's prolific juvenile record.
A half-brother to winners abroad but saw his price-tag drop from €115,000 to 70,000 guineas when resold as a juvenile. Yard not renowned for debutant winners.

February foal out of a dam won between 1m and 1m2f, and a half-brother to the 1m4f winner Toptempo. Profile suggests a winning debut is highly unlikely.

April foal who is a half-brother to the juvenile 5f winner Fashionable Spriit. Changed hands for 65,000 guineas as a yearling. Probably best watched unless market suggests otherwise.

Forecasts

Symbolization (15/8), Wafy (10/3), Old Persian (6/1), Rastrelli (8/1), Sergio Leone (8/1), Enzemble (12/1), Hidden Depths (12/1), Chilean (20/1), Turquoise Bay (25/1), Vintager (33/1), The Emperor Within (50/1), Blame Culture (66/1), Topapinion (100/1)

Verdict

Despite a pedigree which suggests further will be appreciated, Symbolization appears the pick of the powerful Charlie Appleby yard on jockey bookings and he has to go on any shortlist, though the answer to this could lie with WAFY. Charles Hills' Dubawi colt is closely related to numerous winners at around this trip and has evidently shown enough at home to warrant an entry for next month's Group 2 Champagne Stakes. Sergio Leone and Hidden Depths are also interesting in an all-newcomer event in which the market should prove an invaluable guide.
  1. Wafy
  2. Symbolization
  3. Hidden Depths
