Made a winning stable debut at Wolverhampton (1m4f) earlier in the month, and arguably could have been unbeaten for the yard had he not been set plenty to do at Beverley (1m2f) just seven days later (runner up to Graceful Act). Third of 12 on Newcastle's Tapeta last day and stable are back among the winners.
Sees this trip out well and has been a good servant at this level for several seasons, mainly on fast ground, but his most recent wins have come over 1m2f.
CD winner, not seen since five of 13, beaten over 3L on Newcastle's Tapeta surface in November 2016.
Stepped up on his debut, here, when brought back in distance to 1m1f at Ripon when getting outpaced, then finishing second of six in a Catterick maiden, before completing his progression, winning a Newcastle classified stakes.
Seems to have improved with each start so far in maidens and deservedly opened his account over 1m4f at Wolverhampton last time.
Put a poor run behind him when third of 12, not beaten far in Leicester 1m4f handicap on good ground. Stable look to be coming out of their quiet spell.
Ran a fair race over extended 1m3f at Lingfield, and was beaten at Bath only by an odds-on favourite time before. Third of four, only beaten 2L in Bath handicap in July.
Came good at the ninth attempt at Pontefract (1m4f, good), when he had a bit in hand. 6lb rise stopped him at Hamilton, beaten over 7L in July.
Forecasts
Royal Reserve (11/4), Pete So High (10/3), Montanna (9/2), Zack Mayo (5/1), Breakwater Bay (15/2), Mysterial (12/1), Albert Boy (25/1), Skiddaw Valleys (50/1)
Historically strong advantage for those leading or racing prominently. Royal Reserve looks a false favourite here, though not without a chance, I would be looking at Montana, winner last day or PETE SO HIGH, third of four, only beaten 2L in Bath handicap in July.
- Pete So High
- Montanna
- Royal Reserve
