Ran well in a valuable handicap at Royal Ascot and confirmed the promise he showed there with a win at that same course subsequently. Forced to carry 6lb more now though and while he's effective in soft conditions, he probably wants the ground a little quicker than what he will get here.

Excellent effort on Champions Day at Royal Ascot when runner-up to The Tin Man and won a Listed race subsequently at Doncaster. Not been at his best this year and probably wants better ground than what he will get here but he ran well in this contest last year and gets the services of a talented 7lb claimer.

Won a valuable handicap at the Curragh last year and produced a game display to win at 25/1 in a Listed contest at Windsor to start this season off. Struggled twice since and probably needs a career best off this mark.

Age: 8|  Weight: 9-10| J: D Allan| T: D C Griffiths| OR:  109| C| D

Career best effort to win at York earlier in the year and won at this course earlier in his career. That effort came in soft ground and gets the services of a jockey who couldn't be in better form (10 wins from last 43 rides) but he's been a little below form on recent runs and needs a frantic pace to run at; career best required.

Won a valuable York handicap at the back end of last season and started this season in fine form with a win at Ripion. Excellent runner-up in a Group 3 at Newcastle three starts back but a little outclassed in Group 1 company at Newmarket in the Darley July Cup. Better than what he showed at Newbury two weeks ago but yard have hit a flat spot and hard to fancy.

Can be an awkward customer but has won a Group 2 and finished runner-up in a Group 1, both coming in France. Bit disappointing in two starts for this yard to date but gets his conditions here at least and certainly still on a good mark if he can put it all together.

Ran well in the consolation race to this contest last year. Best effort since when third at Royal Ascot last time out and should run well provided he gets a decent pace to aim at but very best form has come on better ground.

Age: 5|  Weight: 9-5| J: M Dwyer| T: M R Channon| OR:  104| D

Smart hold up performer who was a surprise Group 2 winner at the Curragh last year and clearly well suited to slower conditions but he's been far from his best this time around. On a fair mark but has a bit to prove from a well-being perspective.

Seven time winner on the AW and latest win came in Listed company but he hasn't won on turf since 2013. Has some soft ground form from earlier in his career but recent starts in these conditions have been uninspiring.

Drew a blank last year but back on track with a win on the AW this time around. Beaten 5L by Magical Memory when finishing fourth last time out and needs to improve if he's to get his head in front off this mark.

Group 3 winner at Newcastle back in 2015 but not managed to get his head in front since. One of many in here who wants a decent pace to aim at but largely reliant on first-time cheekpieces to bring him back to form.

Won a Group 3 at Ascot in 2015 and largely been running well in defeat since. On a fair mark but probably wants a sound surface to be seen at his best. Wears first-time cheekpieces.

No show at Meydan at the start of the year but running well on the AW since. This handicap mark demands more but he's one of the few who likes to be on the front end throughout, so he does offer a pace angle at least.

Won the Wokingham at Royal Ascot last year and managed to work his way back down to a more suitable mark. Not disgraced in two starts this year and provided the first-time visor has the desired effect, he could run a big race in conditions he should enjoy. Trainer excels with sprinters.

Listed winner at the Curragh last year and all four wins have come with cut in the ground. Entitled to come on for his latest run at Royal Ascot last time and clearly better than that effort. Still relatively lightly raced so their could be more to come. Each-way claims.

Returned to form last year and won the consolation race with a fine effort from the front. Won this contest off a 11lb higher mark back in 2011 and while he's clearly not quite the force of old, he's a danger off this sort of mark. Versatile conditions wise and should come on for his most recent effort at Hamilton.

Completed a hat-trick towards the back end of last year and won well at Windsor last time out. 6lb higher in a deeper contest now though and even though he gets the services of a very useful 5lb claimer, others still make more appeal.

Yet to win this year but has run well on a couple of occasions including when third behind Duke Of Firenze at York in soft ground. Suspicion this handicap mark is beyond him though, particularly in a race as deep as this and De Sousa prefers Danzeno.

Beat the re-opposing Upstaging at Windsor earlier in the year but couldn't confirm the form with that rival last time out when sixth of 13 at that same course. Looks up against it off this sort of mark and others bring stronger formlines to the table.

Won (awarded in stewrds room) and placed twice from four starts at this course and while he has been a little out of form on his most recent efforts it would be no surprise to see him bounced back returned to this course. Yet to show a lot of form in softer conditions though.

Has seemingly been campaigned with soft ground in mind and won on soft ground at York on first start for this yard earlier in the year at York. Not beaten far there last time out either but yard have been very quiet of late and perhaps best watched this time around.

Won each of his first three starts in convincing fashion but shaped as if amiss on his most recent starts. Has won in soft ground and can't be dismissed if he returns to form but well being has to be taken on trust. First-time blinkers applied.

Returned to form with a fine effort in the Bunbury Cup last time out at Newmarket and has the speed for 6f. Ground conditions would have to be the worry but last two winners of this have been three-year-olds and he gets the services of Ryan Moore. Interesting runner from an attractive handicap mark.

Has progressed nicely this season but struggled off this mark last time out and conditions seemingly not in his favour. May struggle in a race as deep as this.

Sir Dancealot (5/1), Growl (7/1), Danzeno (7/1), Polybius (8/1), Al Qahwa (9/1), Projection (11/1), Shanghai Glory (14/1), Raucous (14/1), Aeolus (16/1), Brian The Snail (16/1), Hoof It (20/1), Donjuan Triumphant (20/1), Eastern Impact (20/1), Lancelot Du Lac (25/1), Upstaging (25/1), Intisaab (25/1), Outback Traveller (25/1), Poyle Vinnie (28/1), Classic Seniority (33/1), Stake Acclaim (33/1), Edward Lewis (33/1), Perfect Pasture (33/1), Mobsta (33/1), Hoofalong (33/1), Solar Flair (40/1), Duke Of Firenze (40/1), Harry Hurricane (50/1), Go Far (66/1)

Verdict

SIR DANCEALOT has the right profile for this kind of race and three-year-olds have won the last two renewals; provided he handles conditions here, he could prove the one to side with. Hoof It won this back in 2011 and landed the consolation race last time out; he's an interesting runner and should make a bold bid from the front while Shanghai Glory and Outback Traveller will both enjoy conditions.

  2. Hoof It
  3. Outback Traveller
