Enjoys soft ground and gets this trip well, and though his recent form isn't the most encouraging he is now back down below his most recent winning handicap mark, and is one to consider.
Won in June last year at Brighton (his only victory since 2014), off 6lb lower than his current mark, but he ran encouragingly at Chepstow over this trip last time. Claims if proving he can be effective on softer ground.
Has run fair races in three maidens, all over shorter than this, and could prove competitive off her opening mark if staying this far, which looks a slight question mark on paper.
Still yet to get off the mark but put in by far his best performance on his reappearance at Ayr last time (1m2f, good). Up 6lb for that but that may not prove a prohibitive rise if he can come from that first run back.
Hasn't been particularly effective in handicaps up to this point but did win a minor maiden auction race at Brighton in May (1m2f, good to firm), and ran well in a claimer over this C&D last time out. Has a chance if running to that level again.
Goes for a new trainer having worked his way down the handicap after some poor displays so far this year. Needs the change in surroundings to have had a profoundly positive effect on him to go close here.
Finishing second by a head to the now 104 rated Defoe at this course in September was by far her best performance to date, but she subsequently appears to have been flattered by that form and has something to prove now in first time cheek pieces.
Yet to get within 5L of a winner in a variety of maidens and handicaps and is therefore very difficult to build a case for here.
No better since switching to this yard from Richard Hannon's and appears to require plenty more help from the handicapper before looking a genuine contender.
Forecasts
Blankiedoodie (6/5), Beast (5/2), Frantical (7/1), Alnasl (8/1), Bianca Minola (12/1), Primrose Place (14/1), Turnbury (20/1), Beatisa (20/1), Go On Mayson (25/1)
This looks to be between those horses in the top half of the market, including BLANKIEDOODLE. This gelding made an encouraging reappearance at Ayr last time, when taking his form to a new level compared to the more moderate performances he put in at three. There doesn't seem to be much reason to doubt the form and if running to that level again he could prove tough to beat, with handicap newcomer Beatisa looking second best as long as she stays this far, and the more experienced Turnbury also of interest.
