Dual-purpose performer who hasn't been running badly over hurdles recently but lacks the Flat form to suggest that he can be truly competitive off top weight in a handicap of this nature.

Has shown a much-improved level of form this year, and won a handicap on the all-weather track at this course off only 1lb less in March. Strong claims now eased in class once again.

C&D winner who has been running well in staying handicaps recently, finding only Authorized Too too good at Kempton last time out. Has been dropped a further pound since and will see out the trip well.

No win since June 2015 and may be handicapped to his best, but no question that he stays this trip well, and holds place claims following some recent strong performances.

Steps up to this trip for the first time having run a couple of fair races in maidens, but remains with plenty to prove after a comprehensive beating on handicap debut at Sandown last time out.

Sole win to date came over 1m2f at Newcastle in November, but he has hinted he may be more effective over staying trips (despite being well-beaten over 1m6f last time), and could be worth a try tackling 2m for the first time.

Forecasts

Oxford Blu (7/4), Fitzwilly (15/8), Ayr Of Elegance (11/2), Ulysses (8/1), See And Be Seen (14/1), Linguine (16/1)

Verdict

The improvement in AYR OF ELEGANCE's form so far this season has been impressive, and given she won a staying handicap (on the all-weather course here) off only a pound less in March there is every reason to think that she can strike again now eased in class from some more competitive events recently. C&D winner Fitzwilly has also been running well in such handicaps and is worth considering, while Oxford Blu should be thereabouts provided he can prove he stays this trip, which he tackles for the first time.
  1. Ayr Of Elegance
  2. Fitzwilly
  3. Oxford Blu
