Raced on the Flat for the first time since 2014 when last of seven to Machine Learner over 1m6f at Sandown last month. Probably a fraction sharper after that run but hard to enthuse over.

Has done okay on the whole since joining this trainer, but unable to get his head in front and whilst likely to be stronger for his recent reappearance, stamina looks a major concern as he tackles this kind of trip for the first time.

1m3f course winner in October (odds on favourite runner up broke a blood vessel), but hasn't improved since. Third over C&D here early last month so seems to stay and cheek-pieces are tried for the first time in a bid to eke out enough improvement to escape the handicappers grasp.

Ex Gary Moore, and caught the eye on return from a lengthy absence for this yard. However, no excuses when beaten 7L by Multigifted at Chepstow last month and upped in trip in the hope that's the solution.

Finished lame on his final start for John Joseph Murphy at Gowran in October, and this half-brother to Thomas Hobson has since moved to a new yard in England. Hard to know what to expect from him and whether or not he'll stay.

Probably only in fair form in four starts in 2017, but easing slightly in the weights and has previously shown enough ability to win races. Needs to build upon his recent efforts, but unexposed on the AW having only raced twice on synthetics during a 40 race career (both at Lingfield).

1m2f turf winner in Germany for P.Schiergen (April 2016), but untried on the Flat in England so far. Bought to go hurdling, but has registered two non completions for this trainer, and likely to need this race having been off since March.

In good shape during the latter weeks of June, firstly finishing third to a couple of progressive rivals at Chepstow (2m good to firm) before a couple of AW runner up efforts at Chelmsford and over C&D. He'll probably always be vulnerable to a horse with a finishing kick, but there doesn't appear too many of those lurking in this contest.

Ten race maiden, but did manage to finish second over C&D in November 2016 to Multigifted. Looked short of pace when fourth of 14 to Golly Miss Molly over C&D latest, but holds place claims in a poor race.

Forecasts

Pastoral Music (5/2), Fitzwilly (3/1), Iniesta (11/2), Southern States (6/1), See And Be Seen (6/1), Henry Croft (10/1), Lazio (12/1), Authorized Too (16/1), Silver Sea (50/1)

Verdict

No strength in depth, and in truth these are a fairly exposed bunch of staying handicappers. Iniesta shaped well on his return from a lengthy break at Windsor in late May and whilst beaten comprehensively by Multigifted since steps up in trip on just his third start for Fergal O'Brien. Course winner Pastoral Music tries cheek-pieces, whist Fitzwilly heads to Kempton for the first time a virtual unknown on synthetics. However, in the absence of any rival with a finishing kick, the consistent but eminently beatable SEE AND BE SEEN gets the rather reluctant vote.
  1. See And Be Seen
  2. Fitzwilly
  3. Iniesta
