Yet to win beyond 1m2f, but shaped as though he would staying when late on the scene for third at Epsom last time and this Flat track won't place quite so much emphasis on stamina. Same mark today and looks a leading player.
Remains 5lb higher than his best winning mark despite a 3lb drop for his latest defeat. Back over his optimum trip today and cheek pieces now added. They need to eek a bit extra out if he is to have a say in the closing stages.
Prolific winner in India who was comfortably held in a couple of valuable races in Meydan earlier in the year, before joining this yard. Stays 1m6f, so likely to need a decent gallop to bring that stamina to bear and probably one to watch on first British start.
2lb higher than his most recent of five successes, which came on soft ground (1m2f) at Nottingham in October. Versatile in terms of trip from 1m2f-1m6f and also goes well on a sound surface. Strong claims based on a couple of his runs at Epsom this term, though you have to forgive him his latest run.
Has run well over C&D in defeat before and has both trip and ground in his favour for this, but just looks to be in the grip of the assessor at present and has each-way claims.
Just one win since 2013, which came at Lingfield (1m4f, AW) in December. Turf wins have been on decent ground, so no problem there, but has a bit to prove from both this mark and after almost four months off.
Sole win came way back in 2014 and his only near miss since then was here over C&D a year later. 9lb lower than a decent effort at Meydan (1m6f, good) in January, but out of sorts back in Britain and looks best watched unless the market speaks highly of his chance.
Dual C&D winner, the most recent being last time out in a weaker, four-runner handicap here. Handicapper has not been hard on her for that with just a 2lb rise the result, but she has been found wanting on two previous tries in this grade and will find it tough to follow up.
Stays 2m, though his last two wins have been at this sort of trip, including over C&D (good) in April. Defied a 7lb rise to win at Kempton next time and goes into this 3lb higher and in a better race, giving him a very tough task.
Forecasts
What About Carlo (11/4), King Bolete (7/2), Captain Peacock (9/2), Great Hall (6/1), Desert God (8/1), Jacob Cats (9/1), Stockhill Diva (12/1), Plutocracy (20/1), Warrior Of Light (33/1)
Great Hall has decent claims of a return to winning ways, though you have to be able to see past his latest disappointing effort and it might be worth chancing KING BOLETE, who does need improvement, but may be able to find that with cheek pieces on. What About Carlo should be a danger to both if on song.
