Coventry Stakes (Group 2)

Exchange Rate colt, cost $180,000 as a yearling and €550,000 as a Breeze-Up purchase. Has a nice dirt pedigree but won his debut in impressive fashion here over 5f and ground may have gone against him at the Curragh last time in a Listed contest. Should do better here and he's the stable jockey's pick over Zaman. First-time hood applied.

Uncle Mo colt, cost $200,000 as a yearling. Won his debut in impressive enough fashion on dirt at Belmont Park and blinkers retained here. Yard's runners have to be respected at this meeting but this colt appears to have more of an appealing dirt pedigree than turf. Wears first-time tongue-tie.

Kodiac colt, cost 125,000 gns as a yearling. Won his maiden in impressive fashion last month and justified favouritism in soft ground at the Curragh in a Listed contest on his most recent start. That looked like a hot race and with more improvement to come, he shouldn't be far away.

Epaulette colt, half-brother to several winners including Listed winner Chookie Royale. Made all in game fashion at Ayr on debut and winners have come out of that race since, but no doubt he needs to take a giant step-forward if he is to get involved at this level.

Clodovil colt, cost 15,000 gns as a yearling. Likely to want a bit further than this trip with time but not beaten far at Lingfield on debut in fast ground and entitled to progress from that. Needs to find more improvement than most in here.

Showcasing colt, cost 10,000 gns as a foal and £50,000 as a yearling. Excellent winner at Ripon on second start and followed that up with a game win at Epsom last time, beating a smart Mark Johnston colt in the process. Still not the finished article and with another step forward likely, he looks the one to beat. Yard have won two of the last eight renewals of this.

Acclamation colt, cost €80,000 as a yearling 300,000 gns as a Breeze-Up purchase. Justified favouritism on debut at Chelmsford and coped best in soft ground at Newbury last time. Faster conditions are an unknown but well backed on both his starts to date and clearly highly regarded. Yard have a good record in this so warrants respect.

Dawn Approach colt, cost 85,000 gns as a yearling. Still a maiden after three starts but he wasn't beaten all that far at Sandown last time in a Listed race. Trainer and jockey have a good strike-rate of 22.58% when combining but no doubt the step up in trip needs to bring about some improvement if this colt is to get his head in front.

Havana Gold colt, cost 38,000 gns as a foal and 60,000 gns as a yearling. Plenty to like about his debut at Newbury earlier in the year and improved for that experience when winning at Chester last month. Did that easily enough but the runner-up from that race didn't do much for the form at the weekend and perhaps opposable for now.

Compton Place colt, cost £26,000 as a yearling. Dam was a two-year-old 6f winner out of a two-year-old Group 3 winner. Very green on debut when finishing eighth of nine at Windsor and hard to fancy in a race as deep as this, despite the positive jockey booking.

Scat Daddy colt, cost $500,000 as a foal. Clearly needed his debut effort at the Curragh and duly came on for that run at Tipperary last time when staying on well to beat a well-backed rival by 3L. That form perhaps not the strongest on offer but yard's runners demand respect at this meeting and they have won three of the last six renewals of this contest, including last year with Caravaggio.

Kodiac colt, cost 75,000 gns as a yearling and half-brother to a winning miler and useful stayer Bayan. Won well on debut, asserting in the closing stages and that form has a solid look to it with the runner-up coming out and winning since. Looked well suited to softer ground on debut, so not certain to enjoy the faster conditions here but yard are in good form so any market support should be noted; Champion Jockey takes over from apprentice in the saddle.

Lethal Force colt whose dam was a two-year-old sprint winner and half-sister to Group-placed Haikbidiac. Overcame a bad start to win at Bath on debut and likely to be well-suited to faster conditions once again here. First-time cheekpieces could eek out more improvement and yard's juveniles have been going well this campaign. Plenty to like.

Choisir colt, cost €65,000 as a foal and £85,000 as a yearling. Half-brother to six winners including Kurand and Star Fire. Dam was a sprint winner out of a Listed winner. Plenty of speed in his pedigree and made easy work of a 13-runner field at Newcastle on debut. Time of that race looks respectable for a debut effort and he's likely to come on for the run. Should go well again.

Holy Roman Emperor colt, cost 30,000 gns as a yearling. Dam a half-sister to Group-placed 6f two-year-old Elronaq. Too green, particularly in the early stages at Newmarket on debut but followed that effort up with a much improved performance at that same course last time. Runner-up has come out and won since and the yard are in good form but the return to faster ground isn't necessarily a positive here and he needs another big chunk of improvement to land a blow.

Holy Roman Emperor colt who may prove better over a little further than this trip. Won what looked like a hot-race at Navan last time out and first-time tongue-tie applied for second start. Needs a strong-pace to aim at and likely to be finishing his race off well at the end. Could run into a place.

War Front colt and full-brother to Group 2 sprint winner Roly Poly. Still a maiden after three starts and has some work to do to turn around the form with Brother Bear from there meeting at the Curragh last time. No doubt he will enjoy the ground but more exposed than most in here and Moore prefers the claims of stablemate Murillo.

Dutch Art colt, cost 75,000 gns as a yearling and 160,000 gns as a Breeze-Up purchase. Justified favouritism at York on debut and runner-up has come out and won subsequently but others arrive with more pressing claims and Buick prefers the claims of Aqabah.
