C&D winner who scored three times in 2015 and returned to form recently here finishing second in a race that wasn't really run to suit (needed a greater emphasis on stamina). Took a heavy fall over hurdles last time out and obviously given time to recover from that and remains of interest around here.
Dual Kempton Park scorer of late his form on this surface isn't quite as good and he's looked to find this test a little too much around here. Wears just a hood this time around instead of the usual combination (hood plus cheekpieces) and may find this a bit too tough.
Ran a race with a little more verve over hurdles last time out but still not one to trust totally. His last two Flat starts (one over C&D) have been questionable and he usually looks very hard work.
Took advantage of a drop back to his last winning mark when winning here on his penultimate start over this trip (wore first-time blinkers). Ran a respectable race on turf last time out with top amateur on board (travelled well) to finish third and respected here on a surface that he acts well on.
Last seen on the Flat in 2014 and last run in any sphere came over hurdles on early 2015. Hard to know what to expect on his first run on this surface after such a long absence.
The second runner in this contest for his yard and this eight-time winner here clearly knows his way around here. He has however only won once over C&D (his last win) and he now has to run off a 3lb higher mark. Not run that well since that win and can be more miss than hit these days even on this surface.
Placed once over C&D and overall looks rather out of form at the moment and well beaten on his most recent starts and often slowly away.
Still a maiden and has become very disappointing and has left the care for Richard Hannon for whom he started favourite twice. Two runs for this yard have shown little and despite the falling mark and the new headgear combinations he's hard to recommend here.
Forecasts
Deep Resolve (2/1), Serenity Now (4/1), What Usain (9/2), The Lock Master (5/1), Rolling Dice (10/1), Vercingetorix (12/1), Patent (12/1), Alshan Fajer (33/1)
The return to Fibresand will suit DEEP RESOLVE here and he faces a field that lacks any improving sorts after running well on turf last time out. Serenity Now is another who acts around here although he does need a good pace to run at over the trip and that’s not guaranteed here. The Lock Master never looks an easy ride these days and can run in snatches but this eight-time winner on the surface has to be respected at this level.
