Just the two runs so far in quick succession last May with neither being overly promising. Comes back from a fair time off here for his first try on this surface (sire has a 13% strike rate here) but does look one for the longer term and handicaps.
Last seen in a chase for this yard but has run in a couple of Flat maidens for them and requires this run for a mark. Well held in his last start in this sphere over 1m4f and switches back to a mile here a trip that may well be a little too sharp even on this stamina sapping surface.
From a yard not that well known for their runners on the Flat (0/5 this season) and not seen out since June 2015 when well held in a Nottingham maiden. Now back from a long absence on a new surface and best watched here.
From a yard that has been in good form in the last few months he regressed from his debut when finishing sixth here last time out. Started at single figures on that occasion and probably capable of better but he may be better once he has a mark.
Debutante Cape Cross gelding who cost ÂŁ90,000 as a yearling and is a half-brother to the useful middle distance horse Kilimanjaro. Well-bred sort by a sire who has a 12% strike-rate here and his yard have a good record around here.
Third in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket over a mile on his only start so far making up ground hand over fist as he learned plenty throughout the race. That form stands out in this company and although this will be his first run on the surface he does have a dirt pedigree and looks likely to start a short price here.
Sales price plummeted from the ÂŁ24,000 he cost as a yearling to ÂŁ800 when he was sold as a three-year-old. 200/1 when well held over 7f in a maiden at Wolverhampton beating only one home and it would be a surprise to see much better here.
Forecasts
Mark Of Approval (1/9), Maratha (4/1), Albert's Back (14/1), Austerity (33/1), Jethro (40/1), Mesti Boleh (100/1), Tawfeer (125/1)
Apart from MARK OF APPROVAL this is a poor maiden with the rest of the field looking to be facing a tough task taking on the Wood Ditton third here. Maratha looks to be the main one to try and bustle up the favourite with Albert’s Back and Austerity battling it out for the minor placing in a race that won’t take much winning.
