Came good early last season, winning over this C&D on his second start, so likely conditions ideal, and has slowly slipped back down to a winning mark after some moderate efforts in the second half of last year. Drops in grade here and if fit, could well take a hand in the finish.
Form tailed off quite badly towards the end of last season, but is capable of winning when conditions are in his favour and 7f on good ground (or better) is fine. May need this first run of the season and possibly still a pound or two too high in the handicap.
Completely lost the plot at the back end of last season, barely beating a horse home in his last three starts, but as a result starts this season on a good mark and Paul Mulrennan did win on him at Catterick last year. Market always the best guide with the yard, who know how to land a punt.
Has run with great consistency on his last four starts, not beaten far in any of them and showing on his latest start that 7f on quick ground is no problem. Top jockey booked and with ideal conditions again, there seems no reason he won't run his race yet again.
Nothing wrong with his fourth to the fast-improving Foolaad at Thirsk on his latest start, and looks ready for step up to 7f on the evidence seen so far (staying on well over 6f). Yard have started the season a bit slowly, however and may be best watched today.
Best run of his three of last season came over 5f on good to soft at Thirsk, so faces different conditions here, and with yard struggling for winners at present, others look more likely winners.
Was starting to get the hang of things towards the end of last season, giving some hope he may well do better this year, and although nudged up in the weights after his second to the rejuvenated Gypsy Major at Newcastle, should be competitive from this mark. Yard among the winners and not discounted.
Won two of his seven starts last year, and was only beaten a neck on his first run back at Redcar (6f) on quick ground. Both wins came on softer, but does seem to handle quicker, and is proven at the trip. Yard have made a solid start in April and this one isn't without a chance.
Has found some form on his last two starts, following up his Lingfield win with another sood run when second (over a mile) at Kempton. This trip probably the minimum he needs, and a strong run race would suit, but chances if getting one.
Has started the season well ,and as he came to hand fairly early last season, that's not a huge surprise. Neck second to Anonymous John at Wolverhampton latest but just as happy on turf, and likely ground fine. Can't be ruled out.
Generally consistent at a lower level than today, but seems best at 6f and handicapper had his say after he won at Newcastle in January. Looks to have a tough task today.
Form has taken a turn for the worse after finishing second at Southwell in January and needs the first-time visor and drop back in trip to both have a major effect.
Forecasts
Tadaawol (9/4), African Blessing (4/1), Kirkham (11/2), Lucky Louie (8/1), Reinforced (9/1), Favourite Treat (12/1), Lucky Lodge (16/1), First Excel (20/1), By The Law (33/1), Swiftee (33/1), Maureb (40/1), Just Be Lucky (66/1)
Reinforced is likely to enjoy an easy lead here but making all at Doncaster is difficult, as as much as he has a chance on form, is passed over in favour of the consistent TADAAWOL, who should have his conditions again and should go close under De Sousa. Favourite Treat didn't take much getting ready last season and is proven under these conditions. He and Kirkham both look likely to throw down challenges in an open contest.
- Tadaawol
- Favourite Treat
- Kirkham
