Three time winner so far in his career and making his seasonal debut when finishing a close fourth at Kempton earlier this month. Return to turf should suit and has won on sound surfaces in the past.

Successful at Chester in June 2016 and ran well in a valuable 5f contest at Newbury subsequently. Disappointed on his last two outings of 2016 and having his first run since being gelded today.

Off the mark at the third time of asking over 6f at Kempton last month. Ran well on good-to-firm ground over 7f on her debut at Newmarket in October and likely to prove hard to beat for a yard with a 22% strike-rate recently (12/54).

Wore first time blinkers (retained today) when winning at Wolverhampton on handicap debut in November. Form of that contest has been boosted since and interesting off just a 3lb higher mark for a yard with a 40% strike-rate of late (2/5).

Both wins have come at Wolverhampton including over 6f on his penultimate start. Beaten 2L over 6f at Lingfield last time out and racing off a mark 8lb higher than when last running on turf here.

Drew clear of six rivals when winning over C&D in a maiden contest last week. Races off a mark 13lb higher than when finishing runner-up in a 5f handicap at Lingfield in early March and interesting to see how he fares here.

Successful in an AW maiden at Newcastle over 6f in February. Put a disappointing effort back at that track behind him when finishing ½L runner-up at LIngfield last time out and worth a market check returning to turf today.

Winner at Ffos Las on good-to-soft ground over 6f in September. Disappointing in four subsequent stars prior to finishing second at Wolverhampton over 6f in November and having his first run since then in this.

Forecasts

Goodwood Crusader (15/8), Ashwaq (4/1), Super Julius (13/2), Mr Pocket (7/1), Lady Cristal (8/1), Sayesse (10/1), Kings Heart (11/1), Cajmere (12/1), Peachey Carnehan (20/1)

Verdict

With plenty of pace likely in this contest it may pay to side with recent course winner GOODWOOD CRUSADER. The selection was held up on that occasion and ran on strongly to comfortably see off his six rivals on firm ground that he appeared to relish and is likely to encounter again today. Ashwaq made all when breaking her maiden last time and is another of interest though she is likely to have competition for the lead in this her handicap and turf debut while Mr Pocket is another likely to be in the shake up providing blinkers worn when successful last time out work for a second time here.
  1. Goodwood Crusader
  2. Ashwaq
  3. Mr Pocket
