Highly tried last year but held his form well throughout the year although looked a little flattered on his last start at Ascot. Despite the creditable efforts it is a long while since he's won though and has plenty to do off top weight here.
One of the likely pace angles in the race and could be suited by this track although his form does have a rather in-and-out look about it. Has been hurdling over the winter so won't lack for fitness but this mark gives him a tough task.
In excellent form in the early part of last season picking up from where she left off the previous year (completed five-timer). Last win came in Listed company over 1m2f and this will be her first try over this far. Should strip fitter for her first run of the year at Doncaster where she pulled too hard and now off a 4lb lower mark than her last handicap run.
Useful turf performer who has been performing with credit at Meydan over the winter having won two handicaps in Abu Dhabi. His mark has suffered though and would need to produce a career best to take a hand here off mark of 100+.
Smart handicapper who showed some very good form in handicaps last year especially at York winning there in June over 1m6f. Improved after that without winning before running a moderate race in the Cesarewitch when poorly drawn in October.
Last win came in 2014 when running in America but did show up well in some tough handicaps last year over a variety of trips. Looked to find this distance too testing when tried over it before although can travel well in his races. Outside draw can make life tough though.
Not visited the winner's enclosure since 2014 when he won the Northumberland Plate off this mark. The fact remains though that he's not won for a long time and others are preferred here.
Last two wins came on the AW at the end of 2015 and he ran fairly well in three tough handicaps at the start of 2016. Form started to tail off from that point however and he looked to have lost his way a little.
Has often looked to be better than his form figures and started last year in good fashion with two handicap wins at Hamilton over 1m5f and 1m4f. Looks to be capable of winning off this mark and should stay this trip although he may just need this outing.
Started last year well when connections reinvented him as a stayer (won over 2m at Haydock) although he failed to live up to that run subsequently. Looked rather awkward on his last run and needs to show a better attitude here.
Yet to win on turf but has been winning on the AW looking an improving sort of late completing a three-timer at Southwell in January. Placed in two subsequent starts but still showing good form and hard to write off given his connections over a trip that should suit.
Lightly-raced sort who won a Thirsk maiden on his debut (1m4f) early last year. Highly tried after that in three races (two listed and a Group 1) and makes his handicap debut here over a trip that should suit and an interesting contender.
Winning hurdler who has made a successful switch to the Flat winning turf maiden (1m1f) and on handicap debut at Carlisle over 1m3f. Steps up in trip here which will suit and may have a big performance in him under the right circumstances.

Shrewd (9/2), Soldier In Action (6/1), Isharah (8/1), Montaly (8/1), Angel Gabrial (9/1), Sindarban (9/1), My Reward (9/1), Maleficent Queen (11/1), Carbon Dating (12/1), The Tartan Spartan (12/1), Suegioo (14/1), Gabrial The Hero (14/1), Stipulate (16/1), Sir Chauvelin (25/1)
The hard to solve handicaps keep coming on this card and this one is no exception with Richard Fahey well represented again with three in this with the pick looking to be Angel Gabriel. The Chester Cup may well be a destination in a few weeks for some of these like Soldier In Action although the other Johnston runner Isharah is the preferred of his pair. Both Sindarban and Stipulate are interesting types although the former has an outside draw to cope with and the latter may well be better over shorter. SHREWD was very much an improving sort last year and his reproduction of his York form would give him a sound chance here for a stable that do well with their stayers.

- Isharah
