Age: 8|  Weight: 12-0| J: Jake Greenall| T: M Walford| OR:  102
10/1
Appeared to be a reliable sort for the bulk of 2015, winning at Southwell in June of that year (2m4f), and finishing a three time runner up. However, she has totally lost her way since, and has been pulled up three times since October 2016. Watching brief advised for now.

Tara The Tigerb20
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Mr William Easterby(7)| T: T D Easterby| OR:  100
18/1
Failed to settle on her most recent start at Newcastle, so was unable to show any expected improvement for her first run for 11 months over this C&D in early March. One to keep an eye on in the hope that she can recapture the form that saw her bound clear in a mares novices contest at Carlisle in February 2016.

Age: 10|  Weight: 11-9| J: Lucy Alexander| T: G Hanmer| OR:  97

Likely to appreciate this better ground, having showed slightly improved form at Bangor recently (when 12L third to Atlantic Storm), and races today from the same mark that she scored from at Cartmel (2m6f) in June 2016.

Lady London30
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: Craig Nichol| T: R Dobbin| OR:  92
22/1
Can only be described as a disappointment since joining this trainer for £36,000 after winning a maiden Point-to-Point in November 2015. Little hope of improvement at present.

Nicki's Nipperp9
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-10| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR:  84
4/1
Runner up on her last two starts, including over this C&D (latest) when going down by 1L to the well backed Pikarnia last week. Handicapper duly noted that run, but holds a clear chance of recording a second course success.

Mitcd14
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-10| J: Jonathon Bewley(5)| T: G Bewley| OR:  84

Her sole success from 22 career starts came over 2m at Musselburgh in November 2016 when beating Donna's Pride by 9L. Remains 7lb higher than that success, with stamina a concern over this trip.

Age: 10|  Weight: 10-2| J: Conor Shoemark| T: F O'Brien| OR:  76
11/8
27 race maiden for previous trainer Claire Dyson. Off since June 2016, but an interesting stable switch, and goes for a trainer who is known to do well with mares, but at the age of ten, one must wonder how much improvement she has to offer.

Marbeth14
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-2| J: Adrian Lane| T: H Burns| OR:  83
66/1
Ex Irish, and a 12 race maiden who appears to be slowly regressing. Well beaten on her most recent start at Musselburgh, and hails from a stable that is hardly prolific in terms of winners, having been off the score-sheet since September 2014.

8/1
Not disgraced on her return to her action in tough conditions at Hexham last month when third to the fairly useful pair (in their grade) My Little Cracker and Hurricane Rita. Surely has considerable scope to build upon that effort, and will enjoy this step up in trip, and is a relatively rare runner for this trainer at this track.
10
Horse silk
My Brown Eyed Girl27
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-0| J: James Corbett(7)| T: S Corbett| OR:  75
80/1
Nine race maiden, and regularly among the rear division at three figure odds, so unlikely to play any significant part in this contest as a result.

Forecasts

Icanmotor (11/8), Nicki's Nipper (4/1), Mitcd (7/1), Miss Joeking (8/1), Western Breeze (10/1), Squeeze Me (14/1), Tara The Tiger (18/1), Lady London (22/1), Marbeth (66/1), My Brown Eyed Girl (80/1)

Verdict

Tara The Tiger is far better than she's shown since returning to the track this year, but needs to learn to settle a shade better in order to be involved at the finish, whilst the veteran mare Squeeze Me is certainly worthy of consideration in the place market. Nicki's Nipper holds an obvious chance of going one better than on each of her most recent starts, and a reproduction of her run here last week behind Pikarnia would be just about good enough to take this race if it wasn't for the inclusion of MISS JOEKING. Lucinda Russell doesn't send too many runners to Sedgefield, but her six-year-old mare posted a sound return to action at Hexham last month, and promises to be suited by stepping up in trip, and appears fairly well handicapped with the capable Alexander Thorne taking off another handy 7lb.
  1. Miss Joeking
  2. Nicki's Nipper
  3. Squeeze Me
