Has won on the AW but has never run on the Fibresand but has run some reasonable races of late (travelled well). Would benefit from a strong gallop and its hoped that he gets something to run at here given the small field.

Winner of his last two around here maintaining a 100% record at the track with both wins coming over this trip. Showed a really good attitude to win here last time out off a mark of 80 and should go well again off a 4lb higher mark.

Three-time winner at this course and has a very sound record over this trip in particular. The last win on the Fibresand came in a seller though and he'll find this much tougher back up in grade off a mark that he's been beaten off before.

Has won around here off 2lb lower mark over a shorter trip (1m4f) but hasn't won since in a mix of races on the AW and over fences. Last start here over 1m6f looked a little laboured and he travelled with little fluency and it remains to be seen if this test will suit.

Forecasts

Fern Owl (4/5), Virnon (10/3), Silver Quay (7/2), Cousin Khee (7/1), Brassbound (16/1)

Verdict

What could be a tight little contest with better expected from Brassbound stepping back up in trip although he’ll have to improve on his last run. Virnon also needs to travel with more fluency to make a mark and this probably lies between FERN OWL and Silver Quay. The latter may well be able to show improved form but he faces a dual C&D winner here in Fern Owl and the experience on this surface tips the scales in that one’s favour.
  1. Fern Owl
  2. Silver Quay
  3. Virnon
