C&D winner who very much shaped as if he needed the run here last time out after a break. Last win came over 7f on turf and slips back to his last winning mark here. Better expected this time around.
Won here on handicap debut (well-backed) over this trip for former stable last year. Won on turf debut for current yard on turf at Doncaster off a 3lb higher mark. Found higher marks beyond him after that and finished the year out of form on other AW surfaces. Dropped in weights now and interesting back off a break.
Formerly inconsistent handicapper but has won his last two handicaps over C&D off lower marks in lesser grade (finished in front of Fortinbrass on both occasions). Moves up in grade here but hard to fault his record on this surface and may well be able to cope with the rise in grade in this form.
A regular at the course and has won over this distance but struggling of late for form. Often spoils his chance with a slow start and others have shown far more of late.
C&D winner who won four times last year (all over 5f) often winning unexpectedly. Returned from a break when not showing much over C&D last time out and best watched again here.
A course regular this winter and has had his last six outings at the track. Has gone close on several occasions before scoring over 5f on his penultimate start off a mark of 60. Ran another sound race since that win and steps back up to 6f now and another solid effort is expected.
Yet to experience this surface and by a sire with a modest record of success on it. Mark looks fair if he does act on it though but the fact that he's not won since 2014 despite a falling mark is obviously a worry.
Another newcomer to the Fibresand and by a sire who has had a couple of winners here from a limited number of representatives. Profile overall is rather patchy and was well held on the AW at Newcastle last time out.
Lightly-raced maiden who ran his best race over C&D on his second start when with his former yard. Not seen out since running poorly at Newmarket last summer and has a little to prove now off an absence against some race fit types.
Goes well her and has won four times over C&D with the last win coming in January off a 2lb lower mark. Consistent enough but has work to do with Viva Verglas and this grade may just be beyond him.
Certainly knows his way around here and is a dual C&D winner. Came back to form (well-backed) when taking the runner-up slot behind Viva Verglas last time and should continue to run well although his finishing effort is sometimes a little weak in relation to the way he travels.
Forecasts
Captain Bob (10/3), Treaty Of Rome (9/2), Vallarta (7/1), Viva Verglas (9/1), Fortinbrass (9/1), Silver Bid (9/1), Kestrel Call (10/1), Monsieur Jimmy (14/1), Harwoods Star (20/1), Be Bold (20/1), Coiste Bodhar (66/1)
A competitive opener with Viva Verglas much respected given his useful recent form but he does have to cope with a rise in grade and TREATY OF ROME just edges it as the main selection. The return to 6f is expected to suit him after a couple of good runs over 5f. Kestrel Call off a falling mark and on a return to a surface that he’s won on is interesting while solid runs are expected from Fortinbrass and at a bigger price Vallarta.
- Treaty Of Rome
- Kestrel Call
- Viva Verglas
