Real course specialist and all four of his career wins have come here, the last two over 6f. Has run a bit better that his form suggests of late at this course and is always one to keep onside on this surface.

Dual course winner over further than this and question marks as to whether he will have the pace. Ran better than his final placing last time out suggests and now not far away from his last winning mark.

Rather enigmatic character who had developed a trait of starting rather slowly but was undeniably well handicapped when winning over C&D. That was his first win over 6f and the penalty gives him a bit more to do.

Not seen since running at Chester (6f) in August when fifth from an awkward draw. Won only start here winning a maiden on debut over this trip and yard usually know what they are doing with their runners at this track.

Made a good comeback from a long absence on his first run for this yard (formerly with Robert Cowell) when second here over 7f. Quite nicely handicapped on some of his old form and if he can build on his last run he's of interest here.

Three-time course winner twice over C&D and usually makes the running (will face pace pressure here). Well below form over 5f here last time out and while the trip will suit better he is below form at the moment.

Tries the Fibresand for the first time although the sire (Equiano) has no great record on this surface. Ridden far too aggressively last time out at Chelmsford and did well to finish fifth in the end. Edging down the weights, but will need a more conservative ride to take a hand.

Has won twice on this surface both over C&D but has never looked an easy ride and beaten in a claimer at Wolverhampton last time. Back into a handicap here but remains one to be wary of.

6/1
Dual C&D winner although with form figures that read 2112 on Fibresand overall but hasn't run here since 2015. Ran poorly last year but that gives him a handy handicap mark here and he shaped well last time out and has been dropped a 1lb to a mark of 66 which makes him of interest here.

Baron Run48
Age: 7|  Weight: 9-0| J: Russell Harris(7)| T: K R Burke| OR:  63
66/1
Showed some useful winning form in 2014 nut has been very lightly-raced since. Has had two runs back from a long absence recently and may still have needed the latest one.

Forecasts

Dark Profit (9/2), Crosse Fire (9/2), African Blessing (9/2), Meshardal (6/1), Bring On A Spinner (6/1), Red Touch (8/1), Big Amigo (10/1), Ebony N Ivory (16/1), Coiste Bodhar (40/1), Baron Run (66/1)

Verdict

There are quite a few in this who have good form on Fibresand and it should be a competitive heat for the grade. Bring On A Spinner needs to bounce back from some moderate runs but he has good C&D form. African Blessing and Dark Profit have both run well here before and add to the competitive nature of this race. However, it’s hard to ignore MESHARDAL who returns to a surface he acts well on and runs off a mark that sees him very well handicapped on his best form.
  1. Meshardal
  2. African Blessing
  3. Bring On A Spinner
