Won or placed on all of his last four starts and clearly thriving. 5 lb rise is fair for most recent course win and claims again in here.
Not won since 2015 and been badly out of form of late. Zero from two on the AW and has a poor draw to contend with this time.
Just two wins from 43 starts and not won since June 2015. Both wins have come over C&D and hard to know if he truly stays the mile but yard are in flying form.
C&D winner who hasn't managed to place in a race for two years. No doubt he's well-handicapped if bouncing back but likelihood is he's fallen out of love with the game.
Second start for new trainer after spending last season in Ireland where he ran his last three start on the AW at Dundalk. Creditable third last time and won three starts back over 7f at Dundalk in a handicap but runs off an 12lb higher mark here and that may well test him on this competitive contest.
Won Newcastle maiden easily enough last time at long odds-on and second/third have both won again since. Handicap mark certainly doesn't look a gift but still early days and plenty more progress likely.
Inconsistent type these days and not placed in last nine starts. Never scored or placed on the AW from eight attempts so hard to fancy all things considered.
Likes to race close to the pace and may struggle from this draw. Probably better suited to Chelmsford where he's won before and passed over on this occasion.
Two wins from eight starts for this yard and jockey booking is an obvious plus. Well-backed last time though and didn't appear to have many excuses. Likely he'll need more here.
Very consistent type but still 8 lb above his last winning mark because of that and just usually finds one or two too good. Has an absence to overcome.
Seems to be thriving recently and won over C&D two starts back. Much less to prove than some of these but handicap mark is four pound higher than highest ever winning mark and it's hard to fancy him for win purposes.
Won a nice looking maiden on debut but has been disappointing since and opposable from a tough draw.
Forecasts
Noble Star (13/8), Miracle Ninetynine (6/1), Pendo (7/1), Rio's Cliffs (9/1), Starboard (9/1), Squire (14/1), Torment (14/1), Baltic Prince (16/1), In The Red (25/1), Berrahri (33/1), Major Crispies (33/1), Ocean Tempest (40/1)
Jeremy Gask's yard are in flying form and Major Crispies may be worth chancing but his overall record of two from 43 is a little off-putting. With that in mind a chance is taken on NOBLE STAR who is at the other end of his career and won a maiden impressively enough last time. The booking of George Baker is a positive for Pendo supporters and he was well backed last time. May well have more to offer here.
1. Noble Star
2. Major Crispies
3. Pendo
