40% strike rate on the AW, notching four successes at Dundalk over trips ranging from 1m2f to 1m4f, including off marks of 58 and 61 in February 2016. Should be stronger fitness wise for last two runs, and respected on this stiffer track.
6lb penalty for a half length success here over 2m last Tuesday. Drops back in trip which is a worry given his run style and the fact his last seven starts have been here over 2m, but remedial work that has taken place on the track since (likely to be riding slower and more testing) could benefit.
Only ninth of 11 on his first try at this track in November in a race that has subsequently worked out well. Dropped a further 2lbs since, but not won since scoring over further at Catterick (fresh and off a break) in April 2015. Third for Becky Smith at Newbury in October.
Starting to appear very attractively handicapped, and really caught the eye here last month, travelling well and every chance until inside the final furlong. Steps up in trip (under-performed previously at trip from higher marks).
Stablemate of Genres who recorded at hat-trick in spring 2015 (rated 65 to 76), which included a win on Fibresand at Southwell. Consistent in this month in 2016, and worth a go here on tapeta from free falling mark.
Left Richard Fahey after finishing runner up in a seller in October, and gradually regressed in three starts here for this trainer, but did run arguably his best race for this yard on debut when seventh at this trip.
Tapeta winner at Wolverhampton at this trip (off 6lb lower mark) in May 2015, and has won on turf since, but comes here off a six month break after finishing second at Musselburgh in June. Competitive off this mark, but may need this race.
Maiden after ten racecourse appearances, including in four attempts at this trip. However, does have experience of this track, and holds Sherman McCoy on that evidence, whilst checked in run latest start at Wolverhampton.
Posted two solid enough efforts over C&D in October, including when winning off 3lb lower mark on penultimate start. However, time has shown they weren't the strongest of contests and well below par last time, but presumably freshened up in the break since that run.
Attracted strong market support here over 2m on penultimate start, but didn't appear to stay, and quite possibly bogged down in the Fibresand last time over shorter. Capable of better, with form tied up with Glasgon here in October.
Not able to reproduce fast finishing third placed effort here on penultimate start when finishing ninth (held by Genres) over ten furlongs last month. Steps up in trip and stamina very much in question.
Forecasts
Genres (5/4), Temasek Star (6/1), Sennockian Song (6/1), Miss Tree (8/1), Devious Spirit (10/1), Ralphy Lad (11/1), Jan Smuts (16/1), Surround Sound (18/1), Glasgon (33/1), Swiss Lait (33/1), Sherman McCoy (66/1)
Temasek Star is a fascinating Irish raider with a good strike rate at Dundalk. However, this track is more demanding, and something around 1m3f could be his optimum trip with the sneaking suspicion being his stamina may be overstretched, especially with proven stayer Jan Smuts in the line up. GENRES also has stamina to prove, but he travelled like a good horse last time over shorter, and his most appealing handicap mark is enough to give him the vote with the Swinbank horses in reasonable form. He has held other entries here (over shorter) since that fourth placed effort, so presumably connections feel that the step up in trip will suit..
1. Genres
2. Jan Smuts
3. Miss Tree
