Dual C&D winner in 2015 off marks of 67 and 68. Might well have just needed both starts here in December (off six week break), and contender from this mark if sharper.
Sole success came at Lingfield some 14 months back and whilst running with some credit here on last three starts would need the first time cheek-pieces to have a major effect to score.
18 race maiden, but has finished runner up on two of his last three starts including on Tapeta behind an admirable veteran at Wolverhampton last month. Riders claim helpful.
Four time turf winner, but not since 2014, and now 0 from 13 on the AW. Untested on Fibresand.
Under a length third in this contest in 2016 from a 3lb higher mark, so every chance if able to replicate that effort. Hopefully sharper for last three runs which came over the course of a month after seven month break.
Ten time winner, but not here so far (untried on surface) with sole win on synthetics coming at Kempton at around this time last year. Third on last three appearances (all at Wolverhampton).
Three time winner at this track from this sort of mark, and left a below par Newcastle run (over this trip) behind when returned to this track (6f) when third on latest start. Every chance here.
Course winner for Heather Dalton in March, but shown nothing for Mandy Rowland in three starts, albeit may have needed the run last month.
Four time AW winner (at Kempton and Wolverhampton), but not raced since August, and whilst this is his trip largely below par on turf with the exception of a Chepstow third in July.
Notched a quickfire soft ground double at Yarmouth and Catterick in October, and off until reappearance here last week over further. Generally well below par on Fibresand so far during career.
Five of his six AW successes have come at this venue, and won this race off a 4lbs higher mark (55) last year; Charlie Lad third. Returns here for the first time since April and clear contender.
Three time course winner and like stablemate Claras Cookie has switched from Heather Dalton. Absent since finishing last of eight here in March, and fully entitled to need this run.
Sole career success came on debut at Ripon back in April 2014. Runner up a couple of times since including on Polytrack for Ollie Pears off 49, but not so good here the last twice on both tries on this surface.
Cheap purchase, but less exposed than most after just seven starts. Entitled to be sharper for return from a length absence here last week.
Forecasts
Pancake Day (4/1), Men United (11/2), Swendab (6/1), Very First Blade (8/1), Kodimoor (8/1), Bapak Bangsawan (9/1), Zebelini (10/1), Charlie Lad (14/1), Slim Chance (16/1), Robbian (18/1), Pull The Pin (25/1), Allen's Folly (33/1), Lizzy's Dream (50/1), Ciaras Cookie (66/1)
These contests generally make little appeal for punting, and the equivalent contest here in 2016 is probably the best lead into this race. A chance is taken that VERY FIRST BLADE can confirm placings with Charlie Lad and follow up on his first start here since April. Of the remainder Pancake Day would have a much better profile than most, whilst the well handicapped Bapak Bangsawan is likely to make a bold bid from the front.
1. Very First Blade
2. Pancake Day
3. Bapak Bangsawan
