Overcame a wide draw (13), to record a second Course and Distance success of the year last month. Raised four pounds by the assessor to an Official Rating of 71, but with Edward Greatrex (claims three pounds) taking over in the saddle, much of this rise is negated.
Untried over ten furlongs, with just the sole success to his name (over seven furlongs here in September 2015). Often slowly away, so likely to be dropped in from a wide draw, but worth a try at this trip having kept on to be placed here over shorter on most recent two starts.
Finished second in two of his four starts for Jeremy Gask, including here most recently (mid Oct) over 1m 3f to Ride The Lightning. Sole success in 11 career starts coming on debut in a course 1m Maiden (March 2014)
Formerly with Luca Cumani, and just the sole success for Graeme McPherson in 13 subsequent races. Tried over hurdles, and raced exclusively on Tapeta (at Wolverhampton & Newcastle) in four AW starts.
Folded tamely over further (1m 4f) after racing prominently at Lingfield in first time cheek-pieces (retained) on most recent start. Dropped a further two pounds (to 66) but needs to finish off his races more strongly to be involved.
A winner of a four runner seven furlong affair at Chepstow (Good to Firm) from a mark of 73 in mid summer. Narrowly failed to follow up over a mile at Sandown thereafter, but seemingly held by assessor since. Back to a competitive mark (69) and may have needed the race at Chelmsford (latest), but needs to prove stamina over ten furlongs.
Yet to record a victory on synthetics, but three time winner on turf (all Newbury). Only ninth behind Dream Ruler (second) at this venue two starts back with little to suggest these placings can be reversed. Champion jockey Jim Crowley aboard.
11 of 13, and 11 of 12 in most recent appearances, but does boast a Course and Distance success to his name in a Class 5 Maiden back in February. Needs to show more, but could do so back from a short break.
Now a veteran at the age of 11, but a 14 time winner from 136 races under rules. However, all of these successes have come at trips under eight and a half furlongs and seemingly held by Solveig's Song on Course and Distance fifth in mid November.
Placed once (third) in seven career starts with both John Gosden and Ed Walker. Raced mainly over 12 furlongs, and maybe suited by dropping back in trip. Form of most recent start at Newcastle (mid October) well franked by Ajman Prince, Airton and High Command since.
Racing consistently from this sort of mark (63), including when beaten by only three quarters of a length by Fast and Hot here in October. A four time winner at Lingfield, but also the sole success at Kempton together with a number of fair placed efforts to his name at this track. Has won off higher marks in the past, and not discounted.
Past five starts have been over a mile (including when successful at Lingfield back in April. Off for five months since early July, so fitness has to be taken on trust.
One place behind today's rival Estibdaad when fifth of 14 at Lingfield earlier this month. Possibly retains her best for the turf, and has a clear affinity for Brighton, which was the scene of her most recent success in April 2016.
Sole career success coming over 12 months ago at a mile at Chelmsford. Raced mainly over shorter distances, and shuffled back towards the rear before keeping on (never nearer) over this trip on her most recent start earlier this month.
Forecasts
Dream Ruler (4/1), Fastnet Blast (5/1), Red Cossack (7/1), Zabeel Star (8/1), Solveig's Song (8/1), Boycie (12/1), Estibdaad (12/1), Hungerford (12/1), Cat Royale (14/1), Loving Your Work (16/1), Tommys Geal (20/1), Runaiocht (25/1), Dukes Meadow (25/1), Shifting Star (50/1)
A low grade contest, but Solveig's Song can be taken to build upon last month's Course and Distance success despite being handed another tricky draw. The assistance of Edward Greatrex in the saddle to negate much of the subsequent four pound rise is welcomed. She can get the better of Fastnet Blast who promises to be suited by dropping back in trip with her previous Newcastle form over 1m 4f working out well.
1. Solveig's Song
2. Fastnet Blast
3. Estibdaad
